Great place to go for the experience with friends and family. We got the $44.00 meat lovers meal for two, three orders of it for 6 people. It was delicious and more than enough. We were stuffed. It is fun to cook your own food sit and talk with family. I highly recommend at least trying this place.

This was our second time at this location, with our visits being exactly a year apart. We received excellent service and the food was wonderful. The grill at our table wasn't quite hot enough causing it to take a while to cook, even after it was reset by our server. Still had a great time and left full and happy.

The menu offers fabulous variety, great value, plenty of meat choices and awesome, friendly service! The meat and food just kept coming. Had a hard time keeping track of what was what. All delicious. Easy to cook and eat portions (cut pieces). Friendly service. Attentive to change out cooktop and refill our drinks. Sort of noisy but a fun place... More

This was pretty much a 2.5, but the excellent service kicked it up to a three. My wife and I have been talking about going to Gyu-Kaku for years, and we finally made it for OC Restaurant Week this year. And while it was much hyped from my wife’s friends, the meal was pretty average. Service was excellent, though. Tram,... More

I was not sure about this place when we arrived as it looks like a bit of a dive sort of place from the outside. There are a lot of very mediocre Japanese places around so I was worried. We had a reservation but had to wait almost 15 minutes for our table which was a bit frustrating considering that... More

What a fun and tasty experience! We had reservations for 4 people, we had to wait a while past our reservation time, but everyone who works here is super friendly, accommodating and helpful, so we didn't mind too much. The menu is extensive and the food is really fresh and well seasoned. We really enjoyed the miso soup, sriracha chicken... More

First time here. We ordered the Gyu-Kaku course, which is plenty of food for 2. You grill your own beef, chicken and shrimp in a hot grill in the center of the table. Includes salad, assorted appetizers, edamames, miso-soup and rice The sukiyaki bibimbap (kind of fried rice) was delicious. Plenty food for a reasonable price. It's a small place... More

The restaurant is small and if you get there later there can be a wait. Also parking is in a small lot. The food is great and the staff are beyond friendly.

We thought we'd catch up with old friends as we cooked our own meal. It was impossible. I could hardly hear my husband next to me much less the couple across the table. So we ate with some cursory conversation and then went somewhere else to catch up. The food was reasonable. The meat lovers option is well named. It... More

I've visited Gyu-Kaku's all over the USA and Hawaii and they are great for thin sliced meats and beer. Some apps are delicious as well. Prefer this chain to local K Town BBQ as you are never rushed and get to do the cooking yourself.
