We had breakfast and it was so good. We shared and still was full at lunch. they make a lot of their food from scratch. They have a little shop you can look in while waiting. The coffee was really good

A large chain diner in California, with a small-town feel. Clearly the locals love it here; most people were known to the servers. Friendly and quick service, large portions, and hot and tasty food. What more could you want? Also, all-day breakfast.

This local-ish chain of diners has delicious diner food and friendly service...everything you'd expect from a diner. The Black Bear theme is evident in the entire restaurant beginning with the huge black bear that greets diners upon arrival. A fun place for kids and adults.

Visiting wine country and looking for a good breakfast. Here's the place. Went two times in 3 days and was happy both times. Traditional breakfast, good hash browns and coffee. Service was good. May take a while when busy, but food and service are worthwhile.

I've eaten here several times, and have brought various family members with me. Breakfasts are big and tasty, I've had an excellent Reuben sandwich, and my out-of-town guests really enjoyed their spaghetti. The wait-staff is friendly and prompt. This diner offers a large menu that offers lots of comfort food. It's an American diner, and the food is fine, and... More

The food here is so amazing. Down home comfort food all the way. Friendly staff. It doesn't matter if you order breakfast lunch or dinner I guarantee that you will love everything. I wished they had a restaurant here in San Diego. We visited one in Colorado and the food is just spectacular wherever you go.

My wife and I ate at Black Bear on a Saturday evening in September and were pleasantly surprised. Although this is basically an "old school diner", some of their dinner specials rival the entrees served at many high end restaurants. As an example: the special that evening was Roast Prime Rib served with your choice of potato and mixed vegetables.... More

Basic diner food done well with good coffee and service. Eggs, French toast were run of the mill with the omelette being the standout with nice thick cut bacon. Odd hash browns but they tasted ok.

As other reviewers have stated the portions are huge...but I'm not complaining. We needed it to start our day of tastings. Veggies in the scrambler I had were fresh and not over cooked. Hashbrowns were fresh too. The biscuits and gravy are the best I've ever had...and I'm from the south! Individual biscuit could be a meal in itself...HUGE, fluffy... More

We had breakfast here twice while in Sonoma and both times we loved it. This is a basic diner type place with cute décor and the servers are all friendly. For a typical American breakfast it would be hard to beat. Nothing gourmet about it -just good value , good food and great service.
