Wonderful spot in Santa Paula. A good reprieve from west coast Mexican food and bad coffee. This has the feel of New Orleans. Solid gumbo, good Po boys, well rounded menu and great coffee. Coffee is centri - a local roaster and intelligencia on the espresso bar. Staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Home made chips - yum. And, great... More

It's probably not a stretch to suggest that Rabalais Bistro is in the top ten of casual eateries in Ventura County. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere - we always aim for an outside table and watch the world slowly pass by on Main Street - great, really great food. Mrs SoCal always starts with the chowder and invariably the catfish po'boy;... More

We decided to take a day trip along the Highway 126 heading for Ventura. We didn't get past Santa Paula. We asked the locals where the ABSOLUTE BEST resturant was and they pointed us in the direction of the Rabalais' Bistro. With the admonition "And later stop by Garmins Pub for darts and a beer." I haven't been in a... More

We usually stop by Rabalais Bistro for breakfast, but today we decided to have lunch there. We ordered their seafood chowder, gumbo, and BBQ pulled pork 'po boy sandwich. Everything was delicious! The seafood chowder is similar to clam chowder but had an abundance of other ingredients. The BBQ pulled pork 'po boy came with a giant portion of pulled... More

Based on the reviews that is why we stopped. The place is popular due in large part I think to the fact that it is NOT Mexican in a downtown which is clearly proud of its Hispanic roots. The good: Service was great! The place was spotless (including the bathrooms). The fish dish my husband ordered very good - not... More

I was pleasantly surprised to find such an outstanding restaurant in Santa Paula. The beignets were warm light and heavenly. We had cups of red beans and rice that were flavorful and comforting as well as the macaroni and cheese, shrimp po'boy and pulled pork. The service was outstanding. We will definitely be making a trip back just to eat... More

After a dining tour of three states (CA, NV & AZ) we chose for our final meal a piece of comforting delicious real estate called Rabalais Bistro in Santa Paula, CA. We were not disappointed. A warm & intimate interior with friendly & quietly efficient staff. The menu is essentially Cajun backed up by a mouth-wateringly wonderful cabinet of desserts.... More

I had the vanilla latte with my beignets followed by Shrimp & Grits. Husband had regular latte followed by Biscuits & Gravy with an Andouille sausage. The food was phenomenal! We sat outside and Lea took great care of us. True southern comfort food served in a beautiful atmosphere.

This is Cajun in a setting that combine's a coffee bar/bakery with sit-down dining for brunch, lunch & dinner. The beignets [Cajun pockets or donuts] are fabulous and I would stop by just to have one (allow 15-20 in as they are made fresh-to-order). I like the fried green tomatoes, pain perdu, shrimp po'boy (unique fillings inside a French Baguette),... More
