We grabbed a quick bite at Sitar and were very pleased. Everything is fresh and tasty, and prepared quickly. They were careful with my food allergies, and the portions were the perfect size.

Recommended by our niece who attends UCSC! Order at the counter and food is brought to your table. Self-service soda machine and a $9.99 vegetarian buffet of rice, nan bread, salad, chickpeas, lentils, three dishes of veggies in assorted delightful sauces, then mini-cakes soaked in honey for dessert. My husband ordered Chicken in Tikka Marsala sauce; my son had the... More

We had biriani and other Indian recipes. Overall I liked the food. It was a pick up only. I liked the biriani then any other bay area places. On the Santa Cruz downtown that one good advantage. Another being all day open restaurant, the other one I called wss closed by 4pm on Sunday! It was a bit of a... More

We stopped through Santa Cruz while driving North from our vaction in Monterey. We found Sitar on a courner, and the pretty paintings of flowers on the windows drew us in. We love indian food, and I especially love when it is spicy. I ordered Lamb Tikka Masala and asked that it be made extra extra spicy. My boyfriend ordered... More

For $10.99 you can fill a container with rice and curries, for plant based eaters, there are only a couple of choices. Taste was good without being great. I don't know why they need to use dairy for these dishes when coconut milk and cream would mean anyone could eat them...... Tofu makes a good substitute for Paneer too... Quite... More

They have a buffet lunch but it is vegetarian. The service is slow if you don't want the buffet. My daughter liked the buffet.

Loved this placed. The vegetarian buffet was great. Even if you don't like vegetarian food or Indian food, you'll find a nice variety of menu items to choose from. Affordable too.

we're used to Indian cuisine full of flavors and aromas - that's what Sitar misses completely the food was edible, but I'm not sure whether I'd be able to tell one dish from the other with my eyes covered - korma missed its creamy and nutty taste, vindaloo wasn't even spicy, tikka masala tasted more like general "curry", tandoori chicken... I ended up at Sitar Indian Cuisine on my birthday this year and I'm glad that I did. The service was very friendly and the food was very good. This restaurant offers counter service, a buffet and ala carte items. Clean, bright, contemporary environment in the center of the Santa Cruz shopping district. Nice people watching on Pacific Avenue. I... More

Drove by the restaurant when we were driving into town and decided to go in for dinner. They have a vegetarian buffet along with traditional ala carte menu. We chose the buffet and even though they were closing in 40 minutes they kept it stocked well and offered to cook additional when my group finished one of the dishes. I... More
