Among the hundreds of friends and families living in SC, we know there are two "go to" places for cakes, breads and deli items - Gayles and the Buttery. Everyone has their personal fav, but in our tribe, the Buttery is always the top fav for cakes and Gayles for Deli items. So for birthdays and special occasions we always... More

Never gotten anything I didn't love! Ordering take out sandwiches to order can sometimes take a while. Order ahead so it's ready when you get there.

I always love the coffee and pastry here. I had an almond croissant, my boyfriend has a breakfast sandwich and my daughter had huevos rancheros. Yum yum yum. 😊

What can I say about a bakery called The Buttery. We all know how good anything with butter is and this place is no exception. Best place for birthday cakes, wedding cakes, cookies, pastries and got to try their ham and cheese croissants. We had them do our wedding cake and everyone said it was the best cake they ever... Pretty crowded most mornings. There can be a long wait for an espresso coffee drink. Still, one of the best bakeries in Santa Cruz.

So pretty much enjoy everything they serve here both on the food/coffee side of the house, and the sweets/desert side of the house. They make the best butter cream frosting in town, Id like to order a bucket of it please! But also the cheesecake is delish! Never disappoints. They have been our goto for years for birthday/celebration cakes!

The quality is top notch and the staff brings in regulars so they are in no worry to turn over. Having several friends that feel this is their beginning to everyday I had the try and found their service very casual (close to ignoring everyone) and the food seems identical to what they searved 5 years ago. If you want... More

We had a nice breakfast here. It does get crowded and the wait for drinks was a little long. I really enjoyed the veggie frittata. There isn't any gluten free baked goods which was disappointing. I gave my muffin to my family and they enjoyed it.

We had an early morning flight and so were starving when we reached the Buttery. Looks are deceiving as hardly anyone was outside but it was crowded and bustling inside. Delicious coffee and friendly but very busy atmosphere, a long and very slow line for the unisex bathroom. My breakfast sandwich seemed a bit heavy but the croissant was delicious.... More

Be aware that reviews on TA for a place to have breakfast can be shown either under restaurants or cafes. Generally, restaurants offer hot food cooked fresh and cafes more likely serve coffee and cakes. Buttery is definitely a cafe. Coffee is excellent and plentiful. Just walk over to the counter and get free refills. We ordered a glass of... More
