If you want home made old fashion ice cream this is the place. They only accept cash, so be prepared.

This is the best ice cream made in Santa Cruz and maybe all of the Central coast. I drive out of my way to find it in the grocery stores or I go directly to the original stare on Ocean Street.

Santa Cruz has more than its fair share of ice cream makers and they are all really, really good, but Marianne’s remains the best. The range of flavors is mind boggling and everything is creamy and delicious. The staff is super helpful and lets you...More

I have loved this place for years! I went there often growing up when visiting Santa Cruz, and I remember the delightful and delicious flavors. The ice cream tastes so natural and creamy. A real treat!

I have been going here since the 1970's and it really has not changed much in all that time. It was the best then, still is.

Mariannes has gone through changes over the years, with new owners staying true to the multitude of fun flavors and a good stop over point for beach goers in the summer; however if you want exceptionally good, organic, seasonal flavors and have the time to...More

4 rating because the building is so old and run down but the massive array of delicious ice cream makes most blind to this. This is a regular lift up for a Banana milkshake or a cone with a tart sorbet. Ice Cream pre-pack is...More

Wow, so many flavors, so little time...this place can get super crowded but it's worth the wait. Great ice cream (large portions)...bring in the entire family...a Santa Cruz institution.

Perhaps you are thinking of the Shadowbrook Restaurant in Capitola, just a few miles south of Santa Cruz. It has a tram that transports you down the hillside to the restaurant. Quite a fabulous dining experience.
