This our "go-to-hidden treasure" for Mexican food - both a restaurant and for fast-food. It is innocuously located almost under 101 on Fourth St. in San Rafael. (We had lived up here 15-years before we first went there and really never noticed it until a neighbor recommended it...and now it's our Mexican food place, period! The quality of the food... More

This is a favorite of ours. We go there often. Food is always fantastic. Sometimes really busy. Wish they would clean up the toilets a bit - would make it more inviting.

Located just east of the 101 overpass on 4th Street, this simple Mexican restaurant offers good food in a modest setting. Order at the counter. A waitperson will bring your food to your table. Get your own water and chips.

This is my favorite taqueria in the area. Been here for years. My friend first came in 1997. Says nothing much has changed 😀 food is great, and authentic. Good selection. Free chips and salsa. Building looks run down but we don't go here for the atmosphere. We go for great Mexican tacos, etc. always busy at lunch, but pretty... More

This place would be worth driving out of your way for - but you probably won't have to. Ideal location if you're starving and don't want to sacrifice your health or earnings to big fast food chains. Carne Asada was awesome, so was the ceviche. Tomatillo sauce on point.

Huge portions, long line if you show at lunch, fresh juices, and more than standard meat options (seafood, cabeza, lengua) as well as different soup options. it's authentic and that's verified by the crowd of locals that fill it up. It's a great hole in the wall or hole under the freeway, make sure you are hungry, and give it... More

Great tacos. Try the various pork varieties. I love the chorizo: greasy spicy savory ground pork deliciousness. This place has the best flavored ingredients for burritos and tacos. They have a wide menu of hard to find dishes: shrimp cocktail, lengua, cabeza, menudo, mexican sandwiches: tortas. Very authentic. Frequented by locals, and many latino patrons. The flavors here are more... More
