A little challenging to find but well worth the trouble. Once you entered the beautifully restored and updated 1906 Victorian, you know you are somewhere special. Guest are welcomed at the door by one of the friendly team members and shown to your table. All Spice is all about new flavors and showcasing evocative New American Cuisine. They are local... More

Fine food in welcoming atmosphere. Waiting 30min for my guest in the entrance lounge, no drink was offered. Prices are high.

I surprised my friends. Pulled into the nonchalant parking lot just off of El Camino Real in San Mateo and took them into a historic house. That was the start of a culinary adventure. After being seated by the Chefs wife we were greeted by a casually dressed server. He explained the dishes. We ordered, and when the food came... More

I visited All Spice on the recommendation of the woman I am dating. It was quite the experience. It is a residential home that was converted into a restaurant and it works wonderfully. You feel at home with the smaller size and the attention to detail they have at All Spice. The wait staff is extremely pleasant and courteous to... More

I had good meals here in the past but the last few times I felt that the food was not on the par with the michelin star but the prices definitely reflect it!! we ordered the bean tostada appetizer which was big enough to share and also dense and heavy. We ordered two main dishes. Lamb dish was excellent even... More

This is a hidden gem on the peninsula. I can't believe I haven't been sooner! It's in a home, so you immediately feel like you've been invited to a private party, not a restaurant. The atmosphere is calm & romantic. The prices are totally reasonable. The food & service are both exceptional. It's a real experience and a special treat.... More

Ate here with business associates on a Sunday night - they opened up on a night they're usually closed just for our large party. It's in a converted Victorian so only a few rooms for seating but they set up 2 long tables for us in one room off the kitchen & it was perfect. A young couple own it-she... More

We heard about this restaurant for awhile and finally were able to try it out. The restaurant setting is unique as it is converted from a home. You get a very comfortable and homey feeling when you walked in. The tables are spaced out fairly well and you don't feel like in a sardine can. The wait staff was very... More

We had not visited this restaurant for 2 years after a previously excellent meal. What we had loved about the place was the interesting layering of many flavours within the one dish. The chief seemed to be able to keep unusual pairings of spices and ingredients distinct almost a new experience in every other bite. Our experience this time was... More

We came here for my birthday dinner with my husband on a friend's recommendation. The restaurant location was a bit awkward, the neighborhood seemed a little shabby - not somewhere you would expect a Michelin star restaurant to be and we were wondering if we got the location wrong. Parking the car we went in and were delightfully greeted by... More

Description
San Mateo’s most exciting restaurant is All Spice, an eclectic, contemporary eatery from Executive Chef Sachin Chopra. Chef Chopra expertly blends the freshness of Californian ingredients with Indian spices to create an entirely new style of cuisine, at once light, familiar and warmly exotic. All Spice is proud to have been awarded a Michelin star, a distinction reserved for cuisine of the very best quality and consistency. The restaurant is housed in a converted Victorian with beautiful hardwood floors, a fireplace and a variety of architectural details. Each of three intimate dining rooms is decorated in bold, shimmering hues accented with gold. Thirty seats are scattered throughout. Professional service and a thoughtful, moderately priced wine list complement Chopra's dishes. To book reservations for parties of 5 or more, please call the restaurant directly.
