Arrived mob flowing out the door but got our names on list and managed to score a glass of wine at the bar. If you don't like strangers conversation this will be a very long wait. As time progresses we get a seat at the bar and after about an hour our diner table was ready. As you place your... More

How can you not love an old dive with great food? Local color, sports fans, regulars....it's the place you have to bring your next visitor if you live in the area. And if you are visiting, find this place. Right near the Shark Tank (SAP Pavilion). Full bar and fantastic barbeque.

Will make this short and sweet with a couple of tips for first timers. - This place has been here forever. When we first moved to SJ (1983) I asked a co-worker for a dinner recommendation for self and wife. Co-worker recommended Henry's. So we've been coming here for decades! And it hasn't changed much (well the surrounding 'hood has... More

Great food. Casual atmosphere. Unique set up. You order and then when your table is ready they seat you and start bringing out bread and salads and then main meal. Food is excellent. Steak, ribs and chicken.

I first saw this place in the show Man x Food that took place in San Jose and since then when I have friends visiting or my husband craves ribs that's the place to go. It is a good idea to arrive early because the place is always full, specially when there are events at SAP Center. There are meter... More

This is a fun place with very good barbecue. The bar is very good. You order your dinner when you arrive, so dinner resumes very quickly after being seated. Our waiter was attentive and personal & fun. Bonus: walking distance to SAP arena. The place is mobbed before a sharks game. On those night come after 7:30. ( games start... More

I have been going to Henry's High Life for many years. The atmosphere is unique. First, the building was built in the 1880's and moved to it's existing location after the 1906 earthquake. the Bar-b-que red paint covering the outside of the building gives a big hint of the menu inside. The bar is an old antique bar with a... More

This is truly my kind of place. When you get out of your automobile, your nose is instantly greeted by the wafting of white oak smoke. Having never been here before, I did not know what to expect. Many things make this place unique - the historic building, for one. But the whole "take a number" thing was new to... More

Henry's Hi-Life has been many things in its former life, a hotel and even a brothel but now it's a down home funky place for great drinks and food. Known for its huge slabs of meat, my husband and I always get the beef and potatoes choices. This is not your hipster bar but an old fashioned steak house. Décor... More
