Last night on the lake we decided to eat dinner here. Great views of the lake and bridge. Service was good and the food was great. We had the artichoke dip and shrimp for appetizers. The fish and chips were big and tasty. Two in our party ordered the fettuccine and one the tequila version. It could of used a... More

On a recent stop for brunch at the Tale of the Whale restaurant we found it is now signed as the "Cook House Restaurant"....why I know not but found it to be as friendly and having great view, service and food as ever. The view of Shasta Lake and the magnificent I-5 dual stacked auto-truck and rail bridge is awesome.... More

We had dinner there and set outside on the patio. It was amazing with a beautiful view of the lake, fabulous food, great service and nice people.

Disappointed with disorganized service. Ordered drinks then waited and waited. Next ordered dinner and crab cakes intending to nibble on cakes as meals being prepared. Stopped bus person to ask for glasses for water. Wait person missing? 40 minutes and still no food. Sorry, we paid for drinks and left. Maybe an aberration but I felt staying would be a... More

Evidently this place has had a transformation from Tail O' the Whale to Cook House. We stopped by there during a stay in Redding and have no prior knowledge of this restaurant. The interior was bright and airy and has an excellent outdoor deck area both of which face the long bridge over lake Shasta on I-5. The lake was... More

We love to eat here when in Lakehead/Redding Ca. We usually stopped in for lunch or dinner. David makes the trip there worth it. Great service from David, good food and fair pricing. We will continue to come back again. Hopefully we get rain so the view of the lake will be more serene. The whole atmosphere, inside dining or... More

Most seats have great lake views. Food is made from Frozen state - not fresh. Go for a drink and view - don't eat the food!

Our prime rib was supposed to be medium, but was closer to well. Mashed potatoes and gravy tasted like packaged food. The ice cream served with our ice cream was nearly completely melted. $85.00 for two mediocre prime rib dinners...

The good stuff. The soup that is mentioned in my title is outstanding. The bead is wonderful and the service is great. I had to taco salad and it was okay, nothing exciting. My husband had the sirloin steak and he enjoyed it. This place has not changed its decor in 25 years. It needs to be freshen up. The... More
