We typically visit Grant James with a large group of friends to enjoy a picnic lunch, a few bottles wine and a fantastic view! Mike and Susan are very friendly and enjoy talking about their wines!... This is a great outdoor tasting area with shade and big tables! Great BLACK FRIDAY get-a-away!

If you visited the Sonoma Valley in the 70s or 80s you may recall how it was the unappreciated step-sister to Napa Valley. No one went to Sonoma; everyone was in awe of Napa. I did and much preferred it to Napa and its snobby fans. Eventually people figured out that Sonoma was making wines just as good and grand... More

I reviewed Grant James under the "attractions" menu as well, but it bear repeating. Despite living in Ramona for a few years, we didn't come here until recently after one of our "usual" places was closed. That was a big mistake, and we will definitely be back. The atmosphere of Grant James is perfect, from the outdoor seating, friendly people,... More

Wonderful vineyard! The owners, Jacque and Suzanne are wonderful people! They are very generous and accommodating! In chilly weather, they hand out blankets to use, or set you up with a heater. Always out chatting with guests telling funny stories and getting to know their patrons. Even though the wine is a bit pricier than we are used to, we... More

Following an out of town birthday party in Ramona, we decided to stop by Grant James Winery. What a relaxing afternoon. Sitting in the shaded outdoors, looking over the vineyards was a nice change from city life. The owners were so friendly and the wine was delicious. After tasting the various blends, we happily purchased a few bottle to enjoy... More

An excellent atmosphere with a relaxed feeling. We are far from wine experts but still felt that we were respected in spite of our lack of expertise. And, we found a nice wine that we will open in Colorado and reminisce about our wine tasting experience. Jacque was very conversational and informative with a bit of humor included. I hope... More

This winery is on the route for a winery tour, so it does get crowded. We showed up, a large group, and they were very kind finding a place for us to sit. It was a hot day so the misters felt very refreshing. Our favorite "taste" was the sangria, the wines were young to really discern. No restroom, a... More

The host was friendly and engaging, and the view from the patio was lovely. A very nice time. Unfortunately, the wines are not good. They are sweet and not on par with the better wineries in the area (Milagro Farm is much better, and Alta Piano is good).
