Full disclosure: I am a Berkeley foodie, and usually think that Vietnamese restaurants are likely to be ho hum. NOT THIS ONE! First of all, this is not a hole-in-the-wall kind of place. Think linen table cloths and flower arrangements, your napkin nicely folded while...More

Looking for a nice and quiet place? This it. This Vietnamese restaurant is definetely the most quiet restaurant in its neighboorhood with a perfect service. The starters where all delicious. The entrees missed a litlle "punch", but maybe that is the nature of the Vietnamese...More

A seemingly modest place from the outside but quite lovely inside. Vibrant, great ambiance, and very nice service. The dishes we had were quite delicious. We had the salt & pepper calamari, empress rice, shaking beef, and clay pot cod. We'll definitely come back!

Asian restaurants tend to be extremely bare-bones or ultra-fancy, tending to favor food over atmosphere or compromising authenticity in efforts toward mass appeal. Tamarine manages to present Vietnamese food in a setting that's both elegant and sexy, losing none of the intensity and diversity of...More

Fusion seems to be hip right now and often not the best of two or more worlds. At this restaurant, the dishes are exciting and unique - not overwhelming. Keep it simple and good. Jackfruit stew...where else do you find this? 5 different rices in...More

I was so excited to come back here after a long hiatus and was sadly disappointed. The calamari was doughy, the duck not flavorful, and the beans were bland. The cod was at its usual goodness. I've been coming here for 10 years and it...More

We had a dinner reservation on a Monday night but opted for the bar since there were available seats. We ordered the roti, Garlic noodles, cod and the banana beignets . Everything we ordered were scrumptious . The beignets were more like fried banana fritters....More

Tamarine has been a Palo Alto staple for Asian (Vietnamese) fusion cuisine for over a decade now. It is almost always busy and deservedly do. The menu is eclectic and offers many dishes which will both please and challenge your palate. The dishes are mostly...More

Description
Tamarine is a contemporary Vietnamese restaurant that features the light but flavor-intensive culinary delicacies of Vietnam. The restaurant offers a menu based on small plates, promoting the Vietnamese tradition of the 'shared' meal in which food is shared and enjoyed with those close. Tamarine's small plate entrees are enjoyed with the pairing of a variety of aromatic, flavor infused rice, designed to be mixed and matched to create a truly unique flavor experience. Along with culinary delicacies of Vietnam, the restaurant showcases the works of emerging artists from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.
