i had tried the one in San Jose for dinner years ago and had left with relatively the same feeling... The food is OK but really not exceptional ... and although it took for ever to get my pizza, the taste didn't justify the wait The service is very basic... most waiters seem to have been there for ever and... My wife and I have dined here several times over the years. The servings are large but quality of food varies from dish to dish. It is not a place to go for a quiet, romantic dinner. The tables are set VERY VERY close together, and the noise level is always HIGH. I would not take young children here for... More

My wife and I have been dining at Il Fornaio at regular intervals for over 10 years, with relatively consistent, if not entirely refined, food and service. Unfortunately, our experience two evenings ago failed on many fronts. Although our server was friendly, service was unusually slow and intermittent. Our cocktails, while generally well-made (although how hard is it to make... More

I generally like the Il Fornaio experience, very good service, easy location, parking across the street in a free parking garage, but the food is just nothing to remember. It's not that it's bad or even mediocre, but the menu lacks depth and imagination compared to similar restaurants in the same vicinity. I would encourage Il Forniao to get a... More

We chose this restaurant to have a nice date night, and weren't disappointed. We didn't have a reservation on a Friday night, but we were seated without much of a wait. The food was great and the staff very attentive. I would return.

The food is delicious. Seating outdoors is fun in great weather, and they have a large back room if you want to have a private event. I've been several times and every time the experience is great. Good Italian food. Enjoy!

I first tried out Il Fornaio in Corte Madera. Then four of us went to their restaurant in Palo Alto. The setting is very dignified, in the courtyard of the Garden Court Hotel. Almost all of the tables are inside but many with views of the scenic Spanish style courtyard and some with views of the drama unfolding in the... More

From the moment you enter the door you know just from the smells the meal is going to be exceptional, and this visit did not disappoint. The service was exceptional, the wine list offered a fantastic Super Tuscan and the osso buco was amongst the best ever enjoyed. Rich warm flavors on a cold rainy Palo Alto night. The fresh... More
