My wife and i have never had Ethiopian food. What great food and great experience. The food had great flavour, the staff ( who are from Ethiopia) were so kind and helpful. We would go back.

Asmara has been around for years, but it's been years since we've been there. If you've not been to an Ethiopian restaurant, it's a unique experience. We had both a vegetarian combination and a meat combination. Two such orders were plenty for three people. The food was delicious, the service excellent and the prices moderate; you can't ask for much more... More

I went to this place today for lunch with my family. Very friendly service. We ordered veg combo with beef and other one lamb , family style. Nice decor, attached some photos. I gave this place 5 because I have nothing negative to say.

Went back to Asmara for the third time. This place has good food, and excellent service. You can ask to combine entrees onto a single plate to share with injera, in the traditional style.

We love Asmara. It isn't fancy, but the food is reliably good. The service is friendly. On busy nights it is slow, but always seems worth the wait. There are many Ethiopian restaurants in the area, but we have never been disappointed here.

This is a Ethiopian / Erierea restaurant located in the Temscal Area in Oakland. The food is very good and is eaten with a special bread. We enjoyed the experience with a very helpful waiter. It is way to try something quite different and also very tasty. The environment is very soothingly.

I am not a vegetarian or a fan of Ethiopian food, but the rest of my family are one or both. We were walking by while I was visiting from the west coast and 3 of us got excited about Asamara. My son and daughter in law had eaten here before, so in we went. The service was attentive and... More

We liked all the meat and vege dishes. The Tej was good. The best part was the Ingira bread was not overly sour - as they tend to get at other Ethopian places.

We went because the food was rated 26 (out of 30) in the Zagats. We think it was tasty but it would be impossible for us to rate it against other Ethiopian restaurants. We had one 3 types of meat dish combination platter ($12.95) and one 3 vegetable dish combination platter ($12.95). The meats were: Ziggni/Key Watt (strips of marinated... More

I was never into Ethiopian food until my sister introduced me to this place. Ive always ordered the #21 Doro & Gomen...not spicy. I don't even eat greens but I love this dish. It has injera which has a vinegar like taste (I love vinegar taste), which is to eat your food with. It's looks almost spongy but it's good.... More
