I love this place. The food is great, and I like that they specialize in Belgian beers. It's not a fast place, but once you're here, you'll want to stay, so don't come here in a hurry.

this is kind of a self service-order at the counter-kind of place with a large selection of Beers. We ordered sandwiches for dinnner which were very good. but otherwise a limited menu of food.

The Trappist is a great place to have a few drinks in Oakland. We were there last weekend to check out their craft beers sponsored by a Japanese craft brew house called "Coedo" (Kyodo Shoji Koedo). We were surprised to see a long line outside and an approximate wait of an hour to get in. Fortunately, we were able to... More

The primary draw here is the beer. A well thought out selection of good craft beer compliments a nice neighborhood pub type of atmosphere. The cheese and charcuterie plates are well executed and excellent.

There were more beers I wanted to try than I could actually drink, but we had a nice dinner and the beer and food were both great. Get the Reuben!

We stopped in on a weekend later afternoon, as I had been wanting to check this place out. It is a really old building so the space setup is a little tight, but that's just how old buildings are. Supposedly there is a front bar and a back bar, but we walked all the way to the back and didn't... More

Tried to get a beer on a weekday evening. Too crowded, loud, no wait people, bartender disinterested. Won't go back.

Great selection of beers and ales! Good options for bar snacks and light meals. Always a friendly and helpful staff. One of my favorite things is that each bartender gets to use their own playlists on the nice sound system. I always hear some great music there.

Went here after work with a colleague and found it to be very popular and crowded. Bar is kind of setup in a U, with seating area's wrapping around the building, and not many tables. Nice selection of local and foreign hard to find beers though, which are nice and pricey. They serve a few food items, but portions are... More

We had read about this little gemstone, and grabbed a beer and shared some food items (some sort of gourmet grilled cheese, and a kale salad) that were delicious. We'll definitely return the next time we're in Oakland.
