Very good seafood without disput. However it's expensive. For the price, I'd rather not be served on paper plates, plastic cutlery and plastic wine glasses. You can pretend that you are eating in a beach shack on a remote location, however Newport Beach is really yuppiville. So close your reality if you want to and enjoy good fish. Parking is... More

Always a treat coming here. The seafood is awesome! Some of the best chowder around and just is the simple, perfect place when in the mood for great food.

Sure why this place has such a high rating. It is definitely really cool old joint. Lots of fried everything. The food was ok and we tried about everything on the menu. The skewered fish shrimp and scallops were kind of bland. The coleslaw was bland too. For $100 lunch for 3, I would have to give it a fair... More

So knowing that the property is celebrating it's 65th year, I expected it to be a down home beachy restaurant. Good food in a nice environment, not fine dining, but somewhat nice. What I didn't expect was absolutely no real utensils, dishes, or glasses. The clam chowder was okay, have had better. The crab cakes appetizer was okay. Breadsticks in... More

We are sorry that you did not love your experience with us! We committed to plastic dining ware years ago in order to guarantee sanitary conditions for the sake of our customers with each and every serving. We always make a trip to the Crab Cooker when we're anywhere close to Newport Beach. It's my wife's favorite restaurant in Orange Co. Fresh seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. I've never been a manhattan clam chowder person but the chowder served at the Crab Cooker is outstanding.

First and only negative, parking is terrible and do not forget to bring quarters for the meter. Place is truly a landmark and when entering you get the feel you are in a fishing village. Seafood for purchase on your right and where to view on your way out. Paper plates always give me a kick and breadsticks in middle... More

The Crab Cooker has been around since 1951, a year before I moved to Newport Beach at age six. On our honeymoon in 1996 my wife wanted to see Lido Isle where I was mostly raised (military family) so off we went and I showed her the sights, culminating at the restaurant for lunch. She was in seafood heaven, as... More

Good food. Nice portions, food was prepared well and came hot. Yes it's served on paper plates. The chowder was great tasting and was a good way to start the meal. Mike our server was prompt and attentive. Prices were a little high for the overall atmosphere but I felt it reasonable for the taste.
