I completely agree with trip Advisors top rating. Our favorite restaurant in Nevada City. Located in an original Chinatown building, the setting is wonderful. The restaurant even has a tree covered patio with a small trickling water fall in the back. The Pad See Ew has amazing noodles and the Red Curry with chicken is also a must. Shout out also to server Cole. Very helpful and informative. We prefer this restaurant to the SF Chronicle’s top rated Thai restaurant in the Bay Area.

Took the servers recommendation on what to order and loved it all. Thai bbq Chicken was tender and the pumpkin curry was delicious. The service was attentive and the ambiance was great. We look forward to going back!

Headed back to our car after leaving another restaurant where we were never acknowledged, we noticed the Sopa patio and de ided to give it a try. We walked right in and were seated beneath a beautiful tree next to a bubbling fountain. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious. I have only positive things to say about this place. I only wish they had fountain soft drinks instead of canned. I happily asked for the manager on our way out to let him know how much we enjoyed our dining experience. I hope to be able to return someday.

Don't pay in cash and avoid the bland, overcooked chicken dishes. Three twenty dollar bills disappeared from our payment tray and the waiter/manager Ben attacked us verbally as we chatted among ourselves about having to pay twice ($120) for an appetizer, soup and entree shared between us. This was the strangest and most unpleasant experience we ever had in a restaurant. We contacted the owner 3 ways to inform her but our effort was ignored.

9/23/21 Update. Sopa Thai CLOSED by department of California State Health Code violation 114259 (as of 9/20/21) until further notice. (You can do a quick internet search for what the violation is in reference to.)

Terrible service, bland food. Seated quick enough, and order taken. But then we waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. 40 minutes (timed on my phone) and still no sign of our meal. And totally ignored by wait staff during this wait.
Finally managed to flag down a server (who was clearly put out from being called over) and asked about our order. She left and sent over the manager. I ordered Pad Thai for me. Being the staple dish, you'd think it would be out in 5 minutes. The usual lame excuses "kitchen backed up" ... and will ask the kitchen to expedite our order. Still took another 10 minutes to get our food.
My Pad Thai was more of a Pad Thai soup: the sauce was runny and extremely starchy, the beef (which I paid an additional $1 for), was virtually nonexistent.
My partner ordered sizzling asparagus, which was barely cooked. Good if one was a raw foods eater, but we aren't.
Online web menus are wrong (web and Facebook). And they know but but don't seem to care. Reservations are only taken for parties of 4 or more. Hours posted on the website are also totally wrong.
Won't be going back. Period.

Food and Service were good. We originally were sat in the parking lot (they're trying) but our waiter came and said something opened up in the patio. Yeah...it made all the difference, my son's birthday so we wanted it to be special and it was.

We really enjoyed ourselves here. The man was playing the guitar beautifully and it was cool under the tree in the courtyard. The service was great. Food was terrific. I had yellow curry-excellent And husband had drunken noodles also very good. We were happy

do yourself a favor and do NOT get the Pad Thai. Not only ws it terrible -- soupy and sweet, two words that should never be used to describe a decent Pad Thai -- but my husband got so sick during the night that we had to cut our trip short and go home. We also had the papaya salad, which was just OK, and the yellow curry.

I used to really love this place, now the food is terrible. It has a great patio,but until the food improves- I would not recommend it. Staff seemed attentive.

Sopa Thai helped me feed a large group of graduate students - and they all loved the food. On short notice, the restaurant manager worked with me to prepare a large group take out order - all of the food was delicious, service was spot on, and I'm so grateful for his help feeding my group! Thank you!!

We were in town for the Wild and Scenic Film Festival. Dinner at Sopa was excellent - large portions - could have easily split some - three dishes for four people would have worked
