This is a small place and hard to get a table, so make reservations. But absolutely amazing!! Right downtown. GO!

Beware this place is where you will drop the most money. Worth every penny. You don't come every night but for a hot date night or just special occasions this place is the best sushi you will ever eat. Don't miss out.

We went to Sushi in the Raw for the first time recently. My husband was hoping they also offered tempura but since they don't, he ate sushi and really enjoyed it. I think it was the best sushi I've ever eaten! Each dish is made to order so it is all fresh - nothing is done ahead of time. This... More

This small restaurant offers some of the best sushi I have eaten, and I have enjoyed excellent sushi in several countries. Make a reservation as there are only a few tables. The food is artfully and creatively prepared--and it's delicious.

I've eaten at SITR a number of times now and I've been super impressed every time. The sushi is up there with the very best I've had in the Bay Area, and even rivals some of the places I've eaten in Tokyo. Fresh fish, served with a smile and a huge amount ok knowledge -- if you're not sure about... More

I understand why there is a cult following for this place. The quality of the fish is second to none, and the way the fish is prepared is impeccable. You can't beat this sushi for miles, even in San Francisco. We love the truffle oil sushimi, baby back salmon ribs, and any of the nigiri and rolls. You can't go... More

One Time I called and the chef said that they would not be open that particular Saturday night because the fish that they had recieved was not fresh. So despite the loss of money their commitment to excellence was greater.

Sushi in the Raw is popular with locals and it can be hard to get in. But the experience is less than stellar. Poor lighting and small tables make it difficult to see the food and enjoy the meal. Explanations of the dishes are insufficient. Food is just average as far as sushi goes. Service is snooty. I recommend driving... More

Sushi in the raw is hands down my favorite sushi I've eaten! The sea trout shooters are my favorite things there. All of the dishes are very fresh and oh so good. Just know that you will need reservations well in advance or you can go to the door prior to open and hope there has been a cancelation.
