Initially I went for the Crab Cakes. I was not expecting to find such an amazing dining experience in the middle of a tourist attraction. My table ordered everything from the Clam Chowder bread bowl to Chicken Piccata. Everything was on point. Save room for desert, the Chefs rendition of Oreo Cheese cake is not to be missed! I was... No visit to Monterey is complete without a stop at Old Fisherman's Grotto. It is a step back in time---literally. The music is mostly Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. Fun! Not a cheap place to eat, but the service was great and portions huge.

Our Lyft driver who works for the city of Monterey recommended this place when we asked for a suggestion. We were not disappointed. Yes, it is pricey. However, the service is impeccable, the food is beautifully prepared and certainly fresh. If you want a real treat, plan a meal here!

The food was your basic casual dining quality. The views are nice but hard to enjoy them because the dining space is so cramped that you can hear everyone's conversations. The bowls are tacky, shaped like clam shells. . . Very touristy.

We loved the food. Yummy chowder and fish entrees. Deserts to die for. Great service and very welcoming staff at the front desk. We will certainly be back!

We had a wonderful dinner during our family reunion and I can't express enough how wonderful the staff was! We spent three delightful hours with these folks and they treated us like family. The wait staff is personable and friendly. We were treated to complimentary appetizers after ordering two bottles of wine for our group. I ordered the Seared sea... More

We were seated upstairs (didn't even know they had an upstairs area), the lighting was low and very romantic, it was actually a nice surprise. Service was fast, friendly and very attentive. I ordered Macadamia Crusted Halibut it was grilled and topped with tropical fruit salsa, and a Pineapple Citrus sauce. Served with some amazing sweet potatoes that tasted like... More

Yes its Fisherman's Wharf, yes its touristy, yes you'll be pointed to the restaurant after your whale trip and yes you'll get a free starter. The main reason you should go here however,  is to enjoy the food, location and excellent service if you get lucky enough to be served by Joel. What a really nice man and cool dude. ... More
