As long as you can tolerate the cheesy pier on which this restaurant is located, the restaurant, food and service are really surprisingly good. We had raw oysters which were delicious. TIP: If you park in the garage that is very close to the pier,...More

We walked up and down fisherman‘s wharf in Monterey to taste all of the clam chowders. This was by far our favorite one on the wharf. Was able to get a table on a Saturday night and enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Beautiful view...More

If you stroll up and down the Wharf, most restaurants have samples of their chowder readily available to sample. We've tasted them all, and in our opinion, Old Fisherman's Grotto has the best. If you order the large serving, it comes in a special shell...More

Was looking for a really nice restaurant for our last night in Monterey. This restaurant came recommended by our hotel. In and out within an hour. Service was terrible - nobody interested - your just a number. Stay away.

Large portions of appetizers and salads. Best view of the seals dancing in the bay with seagulls and pelicans. Friendly and professional staff. Highly recommended.

This is the best clam chowder on the Wharf. The seating is nice, fast service and would go back again

Classic dark woods give a fancy/upscale feel to this restaurant. And the wait staff are very attentive and professional. Food was good but pricey for what you got. It this was one of the busiest restaurants on the wharf the night we were there.
