Great place to come to relax for Happy Hour Monday 3-close; Tues-Fri 4-6pm. Additionally our server also said 'when it rains, we pour' so it sounds like happy hour prices are also valid when it rains. Their happy hour includes $2 off all Draft Beers $7 Pau Hana Red or White Wine, $1 off Zero Proof items and a few... More

Made reservations based on recommendations. Place has got a great old beach-inn feel. Right on the water. Found the Menu to be limited and the wine list even more unimpressive. Had a couple MaiTai's and can't go wrong with these. Food, was disappointing. I had the Duke special and the fish was way over cooked! Wife had salmon and it... More

The location of Dukes is fantastic--the waves come right up to the windows and you feel more like you are on a ship than on land. And the food is yummy too. Nice fresh fish.

We have gone to Dukes Brunch multiple times. It is an amazing brunch with lots of different varieties of food. They even have gluten free options. Even though its a brunch the service is excellent. It has wonderful views and a great environment that is very family friendly. We enjoy going to Dukes

The restaurant has a great view to the sea. I side is a nice hawaiian flair. The service is very friendly. The food is delicious and not too expensive.

Get the calamari --- it's incredible! The bartenders are incredibly attentive. Watching the pelicans dive head-first into the ocean makes for a great show.

Awesome ambiance right on the Malibu ocean. Crashing waves and surfers are riding the waves. Fun! Happy Hour menu offered great shrimp croquettes, Korean sticky ribs and calamari to enjoy with your beverage of choice. Reasonable prices make this a hot spot to visit friends and enjoy the deck or around the bar. The history of Duke the surfer was... More

We had a layover in LA and looked for a place to go. The "Points Guy" recommended this restaurant. The scenery was beautiful but the service had much to be desired. You had to valet park or park on the street. We sat at a table that had just been vacated. We waited a long time for someone to greet... More

Last night, my friend traveler and myself went to Duke's after first having visited the place with the family in 2011. The first and second impressions were a bit disappointing. Even with a reservation and plenty of tables empty, the front desk staff tried to put us in a second-row seating. Clearly, a window table is the way to go... More

We came here for a meal in January, just after NYE. The place was empty which is apparently normally not the case. We were seated at a nice table with a view (though it was dark and you could only see the beach and some waves coming in). The food was really tasty, in particular the starters (we had lobster... Duke's Malibu has brought the excitement of Hawaii, Waikiki, and surfing to the mainland. The spectacular oceanfront location on Pacific Coast Highway offers over 300 feet of romantic oceanfront dining and memorabilia from both Hawaii and California surfing history. The Barefoot Bar, looking south into the lights of Santa Monica, is a great spot for drinks and casual food with friends.

Staying in Malibu

Neighbourhood Profile
Malibu
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
