We had lunch before the opera and thought it was overrated. Yuppie food not for children. Fried chicken was small boney pieces. Had several other dishes that disappointed. Will not go again.

We had dinner there last month and it was delightful. It has glass pretty much all around the dining room and there was a thunderstorm, we were like we were inside a water globe, very beautiful. It was a Friday night and extremely busy, but...More

Otium is quietly tucked away off the main street - in fact, its better to be on foot so that you don't pass by it in error. My guess is that it caters to many in the nearby finance district who are familiar with the...More

Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering
buildings, bustling streets, and industrial
warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of
cultures here with a growing influx of business
professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of
Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts,
bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly.
Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants

Otium is a contemporary restaurant that draws from the rich culinary heritage and experiences of Timothy Hollingsworth. It is designed to be a social restaurant with an open kitchen merging indoor and outdoor spaces. The restaurant's name, Otium, has its roots in Latin, a word that is meant to emphasize a place where time can be spent on leisurely social activities. Otium strips away the rigid formalities of dining while focusing on the quality of food, warm service, and relaxed casual ambience, paralleling the true essence of its name. The restaurant draws inspiration from the 100-year-old olive trees planted in The Broad's adjacent plaza by utilizing rustic cooking with wood fire and sustainable ingredients grown in the garden of the restaurant's mezzanine.
