Looks rough on the outside, but inside is one of the best Japanese restaurants around. They also do take away if you are staying around there somewhere.

We bumped into this restaurant hanging around Hollywood and we had a very nice surprise: relaxing atmosphere, excellent sushi, avocado tempura and a wonderful crab tower. Really a restaurant that feels like where the local go, not so common experience a few blocks away the chaos of Hollywood Blvd.

There are little L-shaped strips of shops on a million corners in LA and restaurants in most of them. Shintaro on Highland in Hollywood is one. Don't overlook it because of its humble exterior. We walked into a busy local place with great ambience, 3 sushi chefs busy behind the bar and at least 2 large Birthday groups. Even though... More

In the heart of Hollywood, best sushi, not just LA. Large sushi bar, excellent sashimi! Top Chefs! Nice people at the bar from all over. Met Murray and Karen from Australia, have a great trip across the US! Show black and white movies from Japan on the wall, nice touch. Walking distance from Holiday Inn and Hilton in 5 minutes.... I was staying across the street at a hotel and decided to walk over and give it a try for dinner. I ordered a California roll and the Teriyaki Salmon. The roll came out first and it was the best California roll I've ever had. The Salmon came out and it was very good. After I ate the Salmon, I... More

We come here once a week for seven years now. This is by FAR our favorite sushi spot not only in LA! Everywhere else in the world. If you know GREAT sushi and GREAT quality of fish this is the spot for you! Enjoy!

The service, ambience and the food are all very good and the cost is also reasonable. We preferred to dine there several times during a 7-day stay in that area, after sampling a few other eateries in the vicinity.

We met an old friend here before a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. The restaurant is literally walking distance to the Bowl. When we drove up, the place was nothing much to look at. Once inside the doors we could tell this was a serious sushi place. Service was attentive but they let us have our space to visit a... More

Sushi in a strip mall doesn't sound very enticing and when you walk in you inky see the entrance and not the restaurant. Surprisingly when we turned the corner the restaurant that was 70%full for a Monday night which is pretty impressive. We took that as a good sign. We had sashimi combo A and a dynamite roll to start... More

This is the spot on Hollywood if you want affordable sushi and enjoy a positive attitude when they bring your food to the table. Very nicely staffed with clean bathrooms and the drinks are poored perfectly. Amazing experience

Staying in Hollywood

Neighbourhood Profile
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
