This is truly a hidden gem, stumbled into it one night after sugar fish had to long of a wait. Now I hardly visit sugar fish unless it's for lunch. Love the dishes, and sushi. Try the toro caviar special can't go wrong.

Nice variety of items but specialize in Sushi. Fresh and tasty also great service. Chose to try the standard vs. premium since the differences did not seem to merit the additional cost. Full dinners include an appetizer and dessert. Average paid in our party of 7 was $40 without drinks. Validated parking in the back but only for 45 minutes... More

We ordered several sushi dishes as well as cooked food items but were disappointed with the quality of the food served. The broiled fish was very overcooked and the sushi was mediocre at best. For 2 people at dinner, the bill was over $250 without drinks. We could not say any of the sushi or dishes served that night was... More

This is the place to go for a variety of small, creative dishes. Sushi is a part of it, but not the primary experience and not always the best compared with the better sushi restaurants. The chef and his all Japanese crew are experts at the art of classical Kaiseki. A very intimate space. The receptionist has a wonderful memory... More

This place will beat your expectations whether you sample the a la carte menu or choose omakase - their top flight Omakase may seem to some a bit expensive but it is worth every penny and more. Every course is a masterpiece. Other sushi houses may have more flash and buzz but if you are interested in having a warm... More

A hidden gem. The uni sashimi box is unique and while they have the customary Japanese dishes their specials are always remarkably fresh. . Special points f I r the grilled shiseido peppers which are trimmed and cleaned and the homemade oshinko

We visited Takao last night for dinner. We didn't have to wait and found a seat right at the sushi bar. The sushi was super fresh (salmon roll and spicy tuna roll), and the blue crab salad roll came with a delicious spicy sauce. The service was excellent, and the restaurant had a great vibe. Will definitely go back again.

I like their fish and sushi. One of the best I ever had. Dinning environment is nice, service is very good. Overall, just love it. Would definitely go back sometimes.

Takao is a nice cosy spot that focuses more on fish than on being trendy and it shows. Usually get the omakase which is pretty solid and one of the better ones in LA for the price. It's nothing special in terms of selection but fish is usually pretty fresh and you are full by meal's end. Service has always... More

Takao is a definite cut above most neighborhood Japanese restaurants. The menu is extensive and varied, including Omakase (with advance notice). The quality of the food and the preparation are generally excellent, and the service is friendly and efficient. It is quite small and undistinguished in appearance, making It seem more mature and sedate than trendier places. Although not exactly inexpensive,... More
