I love seafood and this was one of the best places to eat seafood. The. Place was packed. The best part, restaurant didn't smell like fish market.

Great setting good consistent food. This is one of my favorites in Los Angeles. Both down town and Santa Monica locations serve high quality sea food. Always a good selection of oysters. Service is unwavering. The prices are steep but for the occasional self indulgence either location is worth the effort. The bar is a great way to test the... More

I guess the name Water Grill gives you a hint, order the seafood, especially the lobster salad or the traditional shrimp and seafood salad. They are always very fresh and the seafood quality is first-rate. Prices, be warned, reflect this. Surprisingly, Water Grill is the flagship of a sizable chain of seafood restaurants that also includes King's Fish House. Thus... More

While, in all honesty, the rest of my group enjoyed the food, the lobster I ordered was dry. I had great difficulty cracking the shell. The waiter (who was excellent) tried it also and said the nutcracker I had was defective. He brought me another, which worked fine. The restaurant was very noisy. We had to lean across the table... We went to Water Grill with our entire family - a party of 12 - for our 50th Anniversary. The service was excellent, the seafood was fresh and delicious. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Everyone was blown away and raved about the service, food and ambiance. Very comfortable.

I've eaten at both locations of Water Grill several times over the last five years. I have never been disappointed. The fish is always freshly caught and prepared perfectly. The service is always excellent. The wine list is complete. This is a destination restaurant in LA and you will not be disappointed.

The food was delicious, but the service was really slow, went there prior to attending a show, and had to leave most of our food to get to the performance on time.

I have eaten here several times and, while I enjoyed the food, I was not as impressed as with other equally high priced eateries in the area. If I were going to choose a place to go for fine dining, I would rather pay the same high prices for better food at other restaurants.

Fresh fish, good wine, excellent service. My advice after the fact is to use their parking garage right next to the restaurant vs. what we did which was park down the street and have to deal with after hours walking and paying extra.

Thank Susan H

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
