Very attentive service, but an uneven quality in dishes. My companion's fish taco was great; the chicken taco was bland. The guacamole was excellent; the pico de gallo wasn't very interesting. My chicken enchiladas with mole were very good, yet this particular mole might not be to everyone's liking. It's heavier on spices, less on sweetness - which is fine.... More

Good chips and guac, open for lunch (lots of business customers), sopes are great. The shredded beef is tasty! Not as heavy as other Mexican food places

I was staying on the west side of LA and wanted some Mexican food before flying out. A friend suggested we go to La Serenata. They specialize in the seafood apparently but choices were limited. The guacamole was average. They served a delicious sauce though to go with the chips. The sopes were just okay. I had shrimp enchiladas which... More

La Serenata is a great place for former residents of Mexico City living in LA. I would describe this as gourmet Mexico City food; as all the traditional dishes are served well. Order an entrée here such as chicken mole poblano, or chicken tropical so that you can experience food like you would in Mexico City; instead of the type... More

We've been here 3 or 4 times. It's always seemed pricey for lunch, but the fresh fish is good. This last time convinced me I don't need to come back. First, the server quoted us dinner prices, even though we were there at 12.30 pm (lunchtime). Second, the service was almost nonexistent. E.g., we had to ask our server after... More

Serenata is near my home on the West side of Los Angeles. It is one of the restaurants that is near our popular Movie Theater. I like the way the food is prepared. They have dishes that are not the normal taco faire. I love theri cammarones and anything else they prepare. It is a small but cozy restaurant. Try... More

I ate here and loved the food. I got a chicken and beef taco with rice and beans and loved it. The food was authentic and fresh! I would definitely eat here again if I return to LA.

I had the carne asada torte with plantains. The torte had nice flavor but the steak was so tough I couldn't tear the meat with my teeth. I had to open up the sandwich and use a fork and knife to eat it. The plantains were cooked perfectly. The service was very friendly. I'll give them another shot the next... More

Was there last night and I would say service was not poor but more non existent!! From the moment we walked in and were ignored to the end of the meal. Was seated and no menus, had to ask. then no drinks or chips and salsa, had to ask. Basically every time we needed something I had to get someone... More

I loved the Santa Monica location and glad I rediscovered their new location on Pico near the Westside Pavilion. The dishes are high cuisine, not the typical "combination plate" Mexican places that dot the LA eating scene. Their fresh fish choices come in a variety of sauce-stew recipes and their deserts are home made.
