The only redeeming traits of this restaurant are the location and playful decor. I'm pretty picky about traditional sushi, but I'm usually fine with mid-grade. This is low grade sushi. It took me 45 minutes in and out to have six pieces of sushi. They were not busy. The Maguro was discolored and soggy, and the Saba was flavorless. The... More

I used to live by the one in Brentwood and it's amazing. The spicy tuna on crispy rice is my favorite. I'm a picky eater and it's the kind of place you can order anything from the menu and you'll love it. I try to go every time I get back to LA.

Ordered dinner with colleagues and dishes came staggered - not together, followed by our server advising that the rolls we ordered were not available. After this they screwed up the sashimi order - NOTE: this restaurant does not allow you to order sashimi by the piece unlike every other Japanese restaurant. I'm the end they proposed a roll that was... More

Excellent ambience, great food and service. Make sure you get the rainbow roll and the special Katsuya, an awesome combination of tuna, yellowtail, salmon, scallop, crab and avocado. Great for lunch or dinner!

Very good service, wonderful food. The location is in the Staples Center. The Black Cod dinner was excellent. The sushi was beautifully prepared.

Had dinner reservations here prior to the Kings game. Made a reservation through Open Table and was able to be seated right away. The place was busy or at least seems busy for what I am use to. Our server Hollis was fantastic. She inquired if it was our first time at the restaurant, and proceeded to explain the menu... More

I had high hopes after hearing great things from friends about Chef Katsuya's creative Japanese cuisine. This seemed to me to be kind of a not-as-good knock off of Matsuhisa or Nobu. The people were friendly and the room is cool, but the food just didn't measure up. The best thing I had was the rock shrimp tempura. Very creamy... More

Attending a conference nearby, I went to this restaurant with a colleague for lunch. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, it seemed short-staffed and service was extremely slow. Food was apt, but portions were very small with price tags that were very large. We expect to pay a premium in an area like LA Live, but it doesn't do anything... More

It's Katsuya, so you know what to expect. This is about middle of the pack for this chain - which is kind of amazing considering it's at LA Live. Patio seating is good for people watching. Try the white cranberry Cosmo; it's delish. And spicy tuna on crispy rice is a must here.
