There are long waits on weekends so be prepared. I loved how they gave coffee while you waited. Food is delicious. Our group was happy we sat outside because the inside was small and had an outdated look.

This is a wonderful neighborhood stop for breakfast. The line is long if you are a sleepy head. It is worth the wait. Sitting inside or out you will enjoy the food and ambiance.

Great breakfast. Worth the short wait! Ate breakfast there twice. Had the Joes special the first time and the strawberry topped pancakes the second visit. Order the crumb cake. This place is top rated for good reason!

Fantastic breakfast, inexpensive prices in the heart of beautiful LaJolla. Impeccable service too! From the photo, you can see that portions are generous and creatively presented.

I have driven by The Cottage almost too many times imagine. Today, I went there. Fortunately I didn’t have my sunglasses with me, so we were immediately seated inside. The winter and spring sun in San Diego is just numbingly bright. I had the Tuscan...More

We arrived with a party of 8 (plus an infant) at prime 'brunch time.' We were told that there would be a 25 minute wait, but were seated at a lovely and comfortable table within ten minutes. The service was prompt and courteous, and the...More

The cooks will customize a plate if salt is an issue. They are really good at working with customers on any culinary/health issues.

Sorry, can't answer that question. Just call the restaurant and ask what hours they'll maintain on Christmas day. GOOD luck.

Over 24 years ago, we stumbled onto a sleepy little restaurant called the Cottage La Jolla. The restaurant was a local hangout and had a reputation for delicious food and friendly, personal service. Since 1992, our business has exploded, and in late 2009 we finished a complete renovation of the restaurant. Improvements include a handicap lift & restrooms, expanded kitchen & a fresh, new look. What hasn't changed is our passion for serving tasty, classic American & Southern California influenced food. We are also proud of the many servers, bussers and cooks that have been with us for years & years. We are often asked how we are able to operate two restaurants on different coasts, and our response is, "It's all about the people." Please take a moment to say hello to our Manager, Michael Harrison, on your next visit. Welcome to the Cottage!
