OMG! This restaurant rocks homemade original Mexican! We are locals and go at least once a month! Every now and then you will see a Hollywood star eating there! Fun to go with a group and share. Their chili gureitos are bar none the best...More

Great atmosphere when the train rolls bud shakes the building. Very casual. Beer is cold and they have happy hour every day. My favorite are the peppers stuffed with shrimp.

The food is excellent. There are two locations in Indio. The one on Indio Blvd. is a small place. There is another one on Monroe St. Get the stuffed peppers. Shrimp and fish dishes are excellent.

We had heard about this eatery from a friend and we were so glad that we dined there. They have the best tasting peppers that are stuffed with seasoned shrimp and then, of all things, you can spread mayo, lime juice, and soy on them...More

This is my ONE AND ONLY spot for 'chiles gueritos' (yellow chiles stuffed with shrimp) and chavela's (clamato and Modelo Mexican Beer)!

Description
We specialize in serving authentic Mexican food from secret family recipes, including seafood specialties, plus cocktails from a full bar! Our Chiles Gueritos are a popular local favorite - shrimp stuffed yellow peppers topped with mayo and soy sauce. Our restaurant offers a unique dining experience that's just like eating at home with family and friends. The "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" of the trains passing by on the train tracks behind us is also something you'll never forget! Opened in 1981, El Mexicali Cafe on Indio Blvd. Is one of the longest-running woman-owned eateries in the Coachella Valley. El Mexicali Cafe Day was establishes on March 19 in the City of Indio, and you can typically count on something special at the restaurant to celebrate the occasion.
