This was the second time I've tried this restaurant and since the first visit wasn't so good, I thought I would give it a second chance. Unfortunately like last time, the service was super slow, and the food was a bit overpriced for Chinese and very average. They even charge extra for rice with your entree. I am really hoping... I gave this place a 3 star since the food is average. Not the norm but we did take out last night and got the crispy beef, mooshu pork, fried rice and fried chicken wings. The fried rice seemed like it was pre-made which in the past was made fresh :( The mooshu was alright, the tortilla thing that came... More

This restaurant is located in a Ralph's grocery store shopping center in the Rancho San Diego area. The menu offers a great many options. It is a fun to order a variety of dishes and then share them between your group. We have tried several different dishes and always enjoy what we get (beef, chicken or shrimp).I would definitely recommend.

We've made friends with the staff and lead Chef of Mandarin Chef in Rancho San Diego. We dine there every week - and always have a surprise waiting for us. Start with a savory soup, hot and spicy. Then move on to sea food combinations and don't forget steak! We've been asking Chef to add it to the regular menu.... More

Unfortunate choice in restaurants didn't dampen the joy of lunching with my aunt! I ordered beef with broccoli for lunch, which is typically a safe choice. The beef was lukewarm and had the texture of nearly uncooked meat...not enjoyable at all. The beef broccoli was served with fried rice, an egg roll, and a fried wonton, all in ample portions.... I think this was the first restaurant we went to when we moved to this area 13 1/2 years ago. We have been back maybe 50 times. It is not gourmet. It is very good Mandarin style Chinese food served by the same staff for all these years. Cloth table cloths and napkins. Very friendly wait staff. Consistent good food.... More
