My DD and I are here in Claremont on a college visit. We had read about the Cheese Cave prior to our trip and were determined to make it one of our meals. We had originally planned to have some cheese, bread and for me, wine, for lunch. Unfortunately by the time we made our way to Claremont, it was... More

This is an excellent spot to buy outstanding cheese with the help of experts who know their cheese. Friendly, non-pretentious, cheese knowledge is shared with their customers. If you love cheese, you must come here!

We bought amazing cheeses, dried fruit, cornichons, nuts, olives, an excellent baguette, wine, a corkscrew, and a cheese knife. Then we set up a picnic under a tree on the Scripps campus for a graduation picnic. Much better food, better ambience, quiet, and more economical than trying to get a reservation for one of the few decent restaurants on graduation... More

Owned by a pair of charming sisters who really know their stuff, with staff who are also friendly and knowledgeable. You could fill up just tasting the various cheeses, and go happily nuts trying to decide. They did a wonderful afternoon session about how to pair cheeses and what goes with what, and of course had samples -- it was... More

The Cheese Cave is THE place for people who like all kinds of cheese adventure. Did you know that you can place your special order and they will help you get the good stuff (e.g., Tête de Moine) and they keep your selections in a computer database.

The folks here know their stuff when it comes to cheese. You will enjoy samples and a wide variety of choices of which many you have never heard but are now glad you have. The also have a variety of condiments and dry goods to add to your picnic basket.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They can help you appreciate what is special about everything they sell. If you're looking for your next great cheese to go with your next great wine or a hostess gift or just a little something special for yourself, drop by the Cheese Cave. You'll never have grocery store cheese again.

I must admit that I am addicted to The Cheese Cave... it is a ritual for me to visit the crew after my jaunt over at the Claremont Farmer's Market on Sundays. They never disappoint me with new cheeses and wines to try out! Last weekend outing resulted in this: Gjetost pronounced 'yay-toast' origin Norway *rich caramel salty finish Hook's... More

One of our favorite travel strategies is to get some quality groceries for the hotel room, so we aren't pressed into bad meals by our schedule. We can focus on a few special meals instead. It also allows us to dine al fresco in local gardens and parks. The Cheese cave is the perfect compliment to this approach. Knowledgeable staff... More
