Stella moved a couple of blocks to a new, larger location. However the food and service remain stellar. We split an excellent Cesar with a bonus of bacon! The veal PICT’s was lemon, buttery and tastefully tender. Highly recommended.

Due to another event, we decided to have our New Year's Eve dinner a day earlier. Turns out this was a fortunate decision as the storms on New Year's Eve apparently closed the restaurant due to their loss of electricity. We enjoyed a very good...multiple course meal with excellent service. We shared a salad, gnocchi, and each had our own main courses before dessert. All was nicely presented and the main courses were especially tasty. We also had an Italian white wine that went well with our food choices. We arrived a bit early but were seated immediately as they had reserved our table. The server was helpful and courteous. The wine list is a bit limited but contains multiple high quality choices. We understand this restaurant will be closing shortly after Valentine's Day while they relocate to larger space nearby. Not sure of date of reopening.More
Being picky about Northern Italian cuisine, particularly from Piedmont and Verona/Lago di Garda area, I have to say that this is "done right". Eating outside with heating lamps was enjoyable too, plus friendly competent service. Prices were on expensive side, as expected, but not unreasonable....Well curated wine list, heavy in Piedmontese and Tuscan red wines, is definitely a big plus for me. Escargot and burrata were good choices from appetizer list. Spezzatino al Barolo was special, Piedmont style. tender and flavorful. It didn't hurt pairing it with the bottle of Barolo! There is no such thing as too much Barolo....))). Piedmontese dishes paired with Piedmontese wines are awesome in Stella Alpina.More
There were some nice charms to my dining here. Thankfully the temperature had dropped from around 90 the day before to 70 the evening I dined here since I had a lovely al fresco table on a lovely but cool evening. My server was very...good and my martini was very good. The antipasto platter was nice with a generous amount of prosciutto and salami and nice cheese and olives. I ordered the special of the night which was a seafood ravioli and also got a side of brussel sprouts. I intended to finish my martini and then order some wine to go with my meal. But no kidding: in well under 5 minutes of my ordering my entree and side, it was delivered. What's more, the entree was upon delivery at best lukewarm. I did order a glass of wine next time the server came around but I could either wait for my wine and have cold ravioli or eat first. The wine arrived when I was about 2/3rds finished and by then, the food was almost cold. It tasted good but it was never close to nice and hot. And the $12 side of brussel sprouts lacked all seasoning and were slightly undercooked. The menu said they were cooked in balsamic vinegar--not a shrinking violet of an ingredient--but if these sprouts had been anywhere near balsamic, they hid it well. I did get the bourbon bread pudding for dessert and it was actually hot and good. But honestly: if I want fast food, I know where to go. Why rush a customer along like this and then serve food that seemed like it sat too long before getting to the table and was bland? I had the feeling my entree had been plated long before I ordered it because how else could it have come in just a few minutes and then still have been anything but nice and hot?More
Our last night in San Francisco we ate here. Authentic Italian dishes. Delicious food! Their pasta was the perfect al dente texture
Nice place downtown with good menu, good wine and friendly staff. Starter, main course, dinner and drinks are excellent and the atmosphere is just great!
Stella Alpina just does a very solid job with what they serve. The Fiocchi con Pere was excellent and my kids are huge fans of the Orecchiette Primavera e Speck. I usually have a few bites of their dish because it tastes so good!
Rather than go into the city on a one night stopover we decided to try this place close to our airport hotel. It was delightful! We shared the Stella salad and a risotto with black truffle and prawns. My husband had lovely halibut for a...main course and my veal piccata was just right. Shockingly we found room to try two desserts - a lemon tart and a chocolate and salted caramel tart. Probably enough food for four people but we enjoyed every bit. There are really attractive outdoor seating areas as well as the interior, and the fact that it was nearly full on a Monday night in November says it all.More
Risotto special was very good as was the Caesar salad. Pasta entrees were very good. Desserts delicious. Outside dining for nice evenings.
Everything we ordered was fresh, tasty and well-prepared. I loved the Stella (house) salad. Very fresh ingredients. I loved the vegetarian Fiocchi entree, pasta purses stuffed with Asiago cheese and pear in a Parmesan sauce. Yummy yummy yummy. Probably not as filling as some of...their other entrees. I loved the Frutti di Bosco dessert served in a little jar. Vanilla ice cream topped with blackberries, strawberry slices and Port wine. What interested me about their menu is that I've never seen some of these recipes before in an Italian restaurant. Very creative recipes and all well executed.More
Cute Italian place w/ nice menu and good food. Love their pastas and the chicken. The spritz was a bit watery but all in all very good.
We enjoyed dining on the patio at Stella Alpina Osterio. Its very nice to sit outside; they have heat lamps. Service is very good. We enjoyed cocktails. For dinner, we had their tasty mushroom soup. We also had their gnocchi. My husband enjoyed their pretty...purse pasta. We also had foccacio bread. For dessert we had their affigato.More
We ordered their takeout and wondered why we have not treated ourselves sooner. Their gnocchi was such comfort, pleasure, indulgence, bellissimo! We had the perfectly grilled lambshops with all its accompaniments. And we tried for the first time the smoked pork ragu with red bell...peppers. It had a little heat but not spicy, which we appreciated. (We can’t tolerate spicy food). This was such an overdue indulgence and such a comfort during these trying times. We will do this again. Soon! Thank you to the Stella Alpina team!More
Stella Alpina is a small resturant in Burlingame that may have the best food in town. It can be hard to get a reservation but the food is excellent. be warned, the "corkage" is $30 if you bring your own bottle.
Have been here many times, and loved it always. Don't miss the special truffle gnocchi (however many times they change the menu this little beauty hangs around, and for good reason), nor the fondue starter, which is a little piece of cheese heaven.
