Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On a beautiful Sunday morning that was warm and conducive to a trip into the Adelaide Hills, we decided to head to Cudlee Creek. The fires that raged the Adelaide Hills during the Australian fire months, started near Cudlee Creek. We were out to support those who either were effected or who had been superb in their support of the firies. Cudlee Café fell into the latter category. Almost alone on a stretch of beautiful Australian countryside, the café stood out particularly with the hanging orange and yellow plates thanking the volunteer firies for their work. A notice at the door offered assistance to those who were effected or a firey! The café has a warm atmosphere, friendly and you know in advance this is going to be good! The décor is eclectic and practical. With the indoor combustion fire and a piano, one can only imagine that perhaps sing-alongs may occur on a cold wintry day. The café was also well filled with only a few tables and spots available. We were there mid-morning so just a coffee and cake this time round. The coffee was fine to order – but then came a problem what to order to go with. The choice was made hard by the varied homemade goodies – from cakes to scones to slices to biscuits. Hmmm choices? Well I settled for Rhubarb and Apple Crumble Cake. Flat white and long black each. We had selected outside seating under the front veranda after noting that outside seating was also available further around under umbrellas. It was enjoyable watching the passing cars and also others coming to support the café. Coffees arrived in a reasonable time with the cake coming not long after. Wow! The presentation was just superb and the taste of the rhubarb and apple was gastronomically heaven! And had been warmed – made it even better. Coffees were mid-strength with a mellow flavour and a pleasant aftertaste and were hot! The service was pleasant, inviting and very friendly. Cost wise it was middle range and was applicable to the quality of what was on offer. We noted that the café also had a breakfast menu and are determined to make it back to have an early breakfast there. I also understand that cakes etc on offer can vary according to what is available from local producers, Return? This is a must! With breakfast on the menu next time … excuse the pun!

I have visited this cafe many times for a break during a ride. The cafe has the usual choices of freshly made sandwiches which are great but their specials for soup and other hearty treats are to be commended. I also love the choices of desserts. You can’t go wrong with their homemade apple pies and crumbles. Not to mention the cakes and preserves for sale. Their service may at times be a little slow but then when the place is packed with customers it’s to be expected. Whether you are passing by on car, push bike or motorcycle, you are sure of a warm welcome

Must have been around for a 100 years, a very popular rustic basic cafe on the windy road thru Cudlee Creek. In view of the recent fires thought a good opportunity to support local. So did everyone else. Basic cafe menu, but the main reason to go here is the trays of delicious homemade cakes. It is very basic tables chairs, a bit mish mash, cluttered, but air conditioned, and outside space. It was a different experience, and no complaints on food. ( however PLEASE make sure in future your cakes are put in cabinets or under cover. It was a bit off putting having uncovered trays of delicious cakes on tables in the dining area with flies and people all around) but the people kept coming in, and the cakes were yum!

Stopped in for 2 coffees and a pice of cake. Price $20, as I enquired about the price of the cake, I was told it was $9.90 and they have never had a complaint about the price, very aggressive and rudely answered (I never complained about the price just asked)! Asked for an extra hot coffee and it was luke warm, they then just heated it up in the microwave. The cake was so bitter that my husband and I couldn’t eat it. Would not return.

On the way back home after a little ride to Birdwood, Gumeracha and on to cuddle. Been awhile, a latte and cake one of the meltingest moments to enjoy. Merry Christmas to you and the staff thank you for the service over the year. Cheers Beachy

I love coming to this place, always great food and service. If the weather is good, and it often is in the Adelaide hills, get a table outside and enjoy the outside and fresh air

Glad to see this little gem is alive and well after the horrific fires . Beautiful day with the sun shinning with every table full, what a joy to see.

Had our last meal here before heading back to Scotland. A fair drive out but worth going to. Great views, appears to be popular with cyclists and motor cyclists. Nice food, lovely staff.
