This nice Japanese restaurant is a couple of doors away from The Creekside Inn. I was surprised at how busy it was on a Thursday night. There were tourists and locals enjoying the food. The menu was quite extensive, the amount of food served was generous and the price was quite reasonable. Chopsticks only on the table. But forks were... More

Ate here and had good experiences both times. The sushi was very good and the Japaneese dishes are very tasty and authentic. If you are looking for a great place to eat give Yamatani a try.

On our drive from So Cal to North Idaho, we stopped for the night in Bishop. We love sushi and our BNB told us about this place. I told our waitress I cannot have mayo on any roll because of allergy to eggs. She assured me there was no mayo on the dragon roll. I repeated that I cannot eat... More

Traditional janpense menu. Amazing to get such fresh fish in the middle of the dessert. Always go there.

Get the "BOB" roll, you will be back again and again! Always great service for a special evening out with family/friends. The fried cheese cake is great!

Second time we ate there and again really good. Need to try the hot saki from a saki machine at the bar. Close to hotels so you can walk there.

The food here was good. We had cooked dinners, not sushi. Service was very slow. Ambiance could use improving. Value for money was good.

We drove right past this restaurant for years assuming that sushi in the middle of the Owens Valley must be a joke. Were we ever wrong! Six or seven years ago a colleague told me they have the best sushi in California. We eat here at least a dozen times a year as we go back and forth between San... More

From the upscale exterior, we expected to walk into a quiet, elegant Japanese restaurant. Instead, we entered a large, open space that was noisy and impersonal. Some divider screens would have been nice--something to separate us from the larger groups and noisy children. The service was okay, although our waiter didn't know much about their saki offerings and brought us... More

Of all places, Bishop has a first class Japanese restaurant and sushi bar. And there's a full bar. And there is knowledgeable servers who helped us through the enormous menu. The owner, Rollie, is the sushi master and you should order his namesake sushi roll, Rollie. There's also six different kinds of Poke, and a vast selection of sushi and... More
