It was a warm afternoon and I was tired. My husband wanted an espresso and I needed a cocktail. I ordered a Greyhound and it was the best I ever had. It was refreshing and gave this tourist the extra boost she needed! When we walked in the cafe, I noticed all types of people and loved the atmosphere. It's... More

...they offer a limited menu and spacey clerks. Good stuff: The portions are very generous and the specials we tried were very good. The food seems fresh (nice salads!!) and preparations healthful. Not-as-good stuff: There isn't a huge menu here. Also, the counter staff is spacey, as noted above. It took awhile for our cashier to enter our dimple order.... More

In a great location on College Avenue right in the middle of a nice shopping area, this restaurant is badly in need of a menu update. Chicken dishes are good but many of the other dishes are tired. To get the best Mediterranean food, order the hummus/dolma appetizer plate and the fruit plate. The atmosphere is wonderful, though, with outdoor... More

I just went there for a late coffee. The place was crowded with hippies discussing Shakespeare and other social issues ;-) Ordered a cappuccino and a muffin. And decided not to brush my teeth: this is the best cappuccino I ever had. The place claims to be the birthplace of Caffe Latte (or is it Macchiatto ?) : what is... More

Stopped by here while we were touristing around Berkeley and really liked the coffee and how it was prepared. It was quiet, the tables were not too close together, there was an upstairs section and board games to play - a welcome change from the usual "tall skim double-shot" conveyer belt approach. Felt like I was somewhere special and uniquely... More

We were in the area for a sporting event, and we're interested in trying a place near campus. We had run out of options. And decided to try it out. I really done like to rate places poor, but have no choice on this one. There were quite a few students getting coffee, which was likely just fine. They have... More

You wouldn't think, on a 4 block stretch of road with a handful of street vendors and about 10 head shops, you would spend so much time waiting for your teenage kids to shop (I mean, they weren't allowed to go in the head shops). So after the bookstore, and the street vendors, and the musicians pushing Jesus, we wanted... More
