I have been eating here for 20 years and the owner hasn't said hello one time. Despite his rudeness the bone in Chili Verde keeps me coming back. Where the owner is rude his wife is a pleasure.

This has to be the closest To Moms cooking I've ever had! By far the best Breakfast in Town! Best weekend spot to hang out and enjoy great food!

Cutest place and you can see into the kitchen and it's the best image ever. Clean, kept, cute, little, Mexican ladies in the back making delicious and authentic food. Kitchen is immaculate, the pans are clean, silverware, so far so good. Super packed but handling it. Aaahhh food was as good as I imagined and hoped it would be. New... More

I do not eat pork so I had the pot beans. YUM! Tacos & Burritos are out of this world. If you ate homemade Mexican food growing up, you will fall in love.

Referred by a long-time Bakersfield resident. It's been there for a *long* time. Older, shabbier, part of town, but the interior is clean, the service is friendly, fast, and good, and the food is excellent. I am an old fan of California-Mexican cooking, which is in its own category in the Mexican food spectrum. This place has authentic, unique recipes... More

Definitely off the beaten and parking is not easy. The food makes it all worth it. Have had the papas con chorizo ground beef enchilada the rice and beans and can't leave without a bowl of their chile verde sauce with tortillas soooooo awesome!!!! Delicious :)

I normally prefer chile colorado (red chile); however, the chile verde sauce was even better. This is their signature dish and a small bowl of it was served to us with our meal. The salsa was not chunky and I prefer salsa this way when served with tortilla chips. The chile colorado was served with freshly made flour tortillas, rice... More

The food is authentic Mexican. The staff were great. We had a question about a dish, they brought us a sample to try before ordering. Where does that happen, well at this place. It is historic, or its in the oldest part of town. You won't regret if you want real Mexican food.

The chile verde is the best in Ca. It is a must try- the staff is very friendly and I believe it is family owned.
