I had lunch there today with a friend. The service was just okay. And the place itself is small but I gotta say. The food was really good. I will return there!

Very good food. I don't call it Mexican, more like Mexican influenced. But everything there is very good. It is a nice restaurant, not a cheap taco shop.
The food at the Red Pepper is excellent. I had chili relleños with lobster & shrimp. Everything all my friends & family ordered was well presented & tasted great. We had read a review written by the "dining divas" & tried some of their recommendations. The service was good and the margarita was good too. The Best Mexican food in... More
We had a group of 8 people, and the reservations we made were actually for a day later, but the staff rolled with it and seated all of us quickly. Everyone had a great meal, and we left satisfied.
I've known this restaurant since it was built 30 plus years ago, and knew it in another location prior. It's moved upward from an excellent but standard Mexican restaurant to a truly gourmet restaurant you'd expect to find in Beverly Hills or the Gas Light district in San Diego. I relished a pair of lobster and shrimp rellano's and my... More
It had been quite a while since I had been here so chose if for a celebration. I had the mole chicken enchiladas and my 2 companions each had the vegetable burrito. They both commented that is was nothing special. My mole was very good. This used to be a go-to place for dinner, but the prices have gotten a... More
There is a reason this place is consistently rated by many sources as the best Mexican food in town - everything on the menu is well prepared and very enjoyable. The salsa here sets the bar for others; it's a nicely complex mix of tastes. The menu has the standard Mexican food restaurant offerings but then goes way beyond the... More
I went to the Red Pepper to treat my mom for dinner! They didn't disappoint me! I ordered crab rellenos, even though they don't have them on the dinner menu. They were so awesome and tasty! Definitely a great dining experience and the price was very reasonable. I don't go there very often, but I've never had a bad dinner... More
The red Pepper has always been one of my favorite Mexican food restaurant. It is definitely an east side favorite with everyone that lives on the side of town. Only problem with Red Pepper is that it is expensive. I suggested this restaurant to everyone.
Dined at Gilberts Red Pepper in Bakersfield - Lunch was good, nothing great but good food. Service was outstanding, very attentive without smothering you.
