The pictures posted on the net are great, however we felt the taste experience was not as tasty as the presentation. As regular asian restaurant customers, we felt the taste experience was just ok. An example of the wonton soup. Just one wonton... and it fell apart. The boullion was flavourless. The lemon chicken had too much grissell. I usually... More

This restaurant has great items on the menu. I've never had something that wasn't good and the owners are lovely

They acted like we were an inconvenience, coming into their restaurant. The beef was like chewing rubber. We normally love Chinese food, but not here!

We spent $25 and only ate 3 bites a piece. I ordered orange chicken. It was dry, tough and did not taste like chicken. My fiance ordered shrimp chow mein and he said it tasted rotten. This is coming from someone who will eat anything. We both had stomach irritation after leaving as well. Do not recommend and would not... More

Almond pressed duck was very good (brings back memories of when this dish was more commonly available) - some people might not like duck, but if you're a fan of duck, try the pressed duck. Also had garlic chicken and mongolian beef - both very good.

Service is what sets this Bakersfield institution apart. While we didn't inquire about the relationships among the staff, we had they impression that everyone is family and that all are invested in assuring a good experience. Our group of four ordered the Szechuan dinner for four, which included hot and sour soup, appetizers, moo shu pork, a shrimp dish, a... More

As a Bakersfield local, I have visited Great Castle several times over the years... sometimes with extended family, sometimes with friends. I've heard no complaints about the food, but there might be occasional problems with speed of service on a busy evening. I am no connoisseur of Chinese food; everything tastes good to me. It is a family-run local business... More

Great food that we enjoyed with family. We had the potstickers, hot rice soup, tangerine beef, and walnut shrimp. The food was flavorful and was great with the sauces on the side. The service was great and very personable. When driving by Bakersfield we will stop again!

We had egg rolls and BBQ spare ribs for appetizers and beef with asparagus and mushrooms and brown rice for the main course. All the food was tasty and served in a timely manner. We found the single order for the main course to be more than enough for the two of us.

Stopped here on the way from Las Vegas to San Jose, based on the reviews. In retrospect, we should've realized the rating is driven mostly by local reviewers. Service was good but food arrived very slowly. They refilled the teapot as soon as we run out of tea (and the tea was good for a restaurant tea) but the food... More
