I love the courage of a small menu. My wife had lamb and mint and I doubled up with an oxtail and a steak and kidney pie, proper pastry, sumptuous filling, lovely surroundings and very friendly service

Relaxed and casual eatery below olive trees. Good service good ambience and excellent bobotie. Take time to explore the gallery and antique stoor or just sit and relax and enjoy the silence

We went to Melon Rouge after it was recommended by the Black Horse Brewery. What a disappointment! We ordered 4 pies which took over an hour and a half to (not)arrive at which point all of the children were tired and wanted to go home. Not once did we get asked if the service was ok nor were we told... More

Hallo Trish - it saddens us to hear of your unfortunate incident at MelonRouge. We pride ourselves in good service. Yes, we are not a fast food restaurant - but the waiting time you mentioned, is unacceptable. I immediately met with my staff and they remembered your table well. I addressed the matter. A lovely, quirky little Cafe that makes you feel right at home. The Bobotie was excellent as were their meat pies. A great place for lunch or just coffee with a lovely little antique shop to browse & maybe find some treasures.

This is a hidden gem Delicious breakfast and coffee, quiet under the trees and good service Menu pasted into old magazines- so while choosing your breakfast you can read some ancient gossip of the has been who's, who! Adjacent art gallery with art and antiques for sale Really worth a stop Plenty parking

A friend and I visited Melon Rouge last Sunday. The weather was fine and we decided to sit under the trees for our lunch. I had a bobotie and my friend had a quiche. Both were very tasty and served with a generous greek salad. My last visit was made alone, but the staff greeted me and recognized me. That... More

We visited Melon Rouge today for the first time and it would not be the last time. Johanna assisted us from the start to the end and she is a very nice and warm person. Her service and the food was great. The pies were delicious. Johanna marketed her workingplace to us and we will recommend the place to family... More
