Short History:- It Was Known As Al-Khan (The Caravanserai) The Open Courtyard Is Bordered On Both Sides By Porticoes Of Tow Doric Columns Each. Originally, The Toe Corner Pilasters Would Have Supported Half Crow Steps And A Cavetto, But These Have Disappeared. In The Funerary Chamber. Six Niches Are Carved In The South Wall, While Tow Square Chambers And A Recess Occupy The Back Of The Chamber. After a long hike in Petra we were very hungry and The Cave was a very welcoming environment. We enjoyed sitting In the Sun as we rested and waited for our food which to our surprise came very quick which Ahmad made sure of. He was very kind and welcoming. Recommend!

A beautiful discovery

Particular location obtained from a Nabataean tomb a stone's throw from the ancient city of Petra. Very welcoming and kind staff, in particular we made friends with Eyad and Alaa who made us feel at home. On two different evenings we had salads, sandwiches and burgers, all very good. Prices in Petra standards. One of the few places in the city where it is possible to consume alcohol (beer and cocktails). Advised!

The place, being housed inside a Nabataean tomb, is very cute and evocative. A refreshing beer after a walk in Petra is fine and the place is worth the stop. In my opinion, the service is very slow (if you order food) and the presence of stray cats running between one table and another is a constant. You will find them on tables picking at the dishes after the customer has left and you will find waiters impassive in the face of such disgust.

Great place for post Petra recovery drink and snack.

This was a wonderfully convenient spot to cool down and have a reward cocktail and cheesecake after 24000 steps exploring Petra. Considering the location and uniqueness of the bar, prices for food and cocktails were very reasonable. It was also very easy for other members of my tour group to find and join me later. My one complaint: I walked in first by myself, and maybe I didn't look like much, sweaty and dressed very casually to be comfortable for lots of walking, but I did not get welcomed by the waiter/host who was at the front and while there was a QR code for the menu, no clear posting of the Wifi access code. The waiter didn't check on me and I had to get up to get his attention and ask for a physical menu. There was only one other customer at the time. He only gave me the drinks menu. Later when the bartender, who was more attentive, came with my drink and did check in. This is not to discourage anyone from going, just maybe feedback for the establishment itself. I was a woman who was on her own, I wasn't sure if I was welcome to enter.

Might be the best in petra

We went with friends for dinner. We are vegetarians they are not. On the night we went they were doing a buffet. As we couldn't eat the meat dishes they only charged us 8 dinars. Very good selection and the full version was 12 dinars which our friends seemed to think was OK value. Drinks were 7.5 dinars for a large beer and 7 dinars for a glass of wine. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Interesting building.

We had the pleasure of being attended by Ahmad, who was incredibly kind and attentive throughout our visit. His warm and professional service made our experience even more special. The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors perfectly prepared. Additionally, the atmosphere of the place is cozy and charming, ideal for relaxing after exploring Petra. Great vibe, great service

This spot has a great vibe. After a tiring day at Petra, it is a wonderful place to get food and drinks. We went with family and kids and even though they didn’t have too many vegetarian options, the waiter was very accommodating. Zeyad was very helpful and helped us out with everything. Lastly, The location is perfect as it is in the Petra Museum premises.

Lovely environment, service could be more attentive.

This is a really pretty place to visit, many of the seating areas are located within little caves making it snug and private. Menu is limited and geared for tourists but pleasant enough. Service could do with a bit of improvement, we waited so long for our dishes to be picked up (as they were attracting flies) that I brought them up myself, plus had to get up and request more drink and the bill as they were busy on their phones. But they were friendly enough.

The Cave Bar in Petra is nothing short of an incredible restaurant with an immense historical legacy. It proudly claims to be the world's oldest bar, which in itself is a remarkable feat. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a friendly and welcoming staff, and we were fortunate to have Khaled as our server. He kept us entertained and laughing throughout our visit, adding a unique charm to the experience. While it's true that the beers can be very much on the expensive side, it's understandable given the unique location right outside the entrance to Petra. The expense is justified by the overall ambiance and the historical significance of the place. I strongly recommend stopping by for at least one drink because the experience is entirely worth it. For an unforgettable experience, opt to sit inside the bar where you can immerse yourself in the caves and the rich history they hold. The atmosphere is not just memorable; it's genuinely awe-inspiring. The Cave Bar in Petra is a must-visit, not just for its historical importance but for the delightful combination of excellent service, unique ambiance, and the opportunity to raise a glass in one of the world's most iconic locations.

Went for cocktails after dinner. And as in Jordan they don't serve alcohol everywhere, I thought that in this place they drink well. But they don't know how to make cocktails. They know how to write the recipe on the menu and that's it. I ordered a mohito and a negroni. 2 glasses arrived with one with mint and water with lemon, so called mohito. Negroni again with lemon and I don't know what Campari tasted like. I couldn't drink. Learn to make cocktails. You also put a lot of ice, not 1 cube.

Magical setting; great food and service.

The Cave Bar is a magical place to have a meal, a drink, or dessert and coffee. My husband and I had a special dinner of Jordanian lamb and mezza salad. Everything was so delicious that we asked our server, Odai, to pack up the leftovers for us to take to our hotel. The manager, Amer, offered to deliver the leftovers to our room at the Petra Guest House. Such service -- we will return tomorrow night!
