Like others who have reviewed My Mom's, we ate there two nights in a row. We also got extra pita for takeaway and the wrapped them well so they were still soft in the morning. The location is so convenient to the Petra Visitor's Center and the food was delicious and a good value. Service was friendly and prompt and the restaurant's Bedouin tent decor was colorful and made for nice surroundings. A constant supply of piping hot, freshly made pita was brought to the table to go with the excellent mutabel and other dishes. Highly recommended.

Our dinner at My Mom’s Recipe was our best meal in 16 days in Egypt and Jordan. The food was excellently prepared with very generous portions. Our appetizers included warm puffy bread with the best hummus and baba ghanoush ever. All entrées were served with Bedouin bread covering the meal and keeping it warm. I had lamb kebobs with grilled vegetables. The lamb was tender and cooked to medium rare perfection. Complimentary tea was served with a scrumptious dessert. The ambience of the restaurant was great with colorful decorations and a live musician. All of this for about $15 USD per person. No alcoholic beverages here.

This was included as part of our package with Jordan Horizons Tours. In addition to some nice starters, we were served with the Maqluba (upside down chicken and rice served in a huge bowl shared by our family of 5). It was great. Highly recommend for a meal just outside entrance of Petra site after a long day of walking Petra. Enjoy.

My friends and I had a delicious dinner. We appreciated the warm, fresh pita bread and loved the classic dish lamb mansaf. The ambience was delightful -- beautiful, charming and cozy. An excellent oud player added greatly to the authenticity and enjoyment of the experience.

We have visited this restaurant in the evening.
There were maybe 2 couples besides us .
We ordered mixed grill and humus with bread.
I was not impressed with how clean was the place...maybe its just something i'm use to from Europe but i would appreciate my table to be wiped out before sitting in and also there was a gum in the menu ...i understand stuff did not put it in but still doesn't feel nice.
On the other hand , hospitality was great, we ask for Bedouin tea , we got normal strong tea but still very pleasant since it was free . We also got free bread which i appreciate a lot.
The humus was good based on my mom's review , the mixed grill was a lot of French fries (half plate), 2 big grilled onions, and about 4-6 small pieces of chicken and the same of something else. I feel like there should have been more more meat . Also the food felt kind of plane with little taste. I love French fries' but this time didn't finish them since they had no taste.

We were drawn in by the quirky name. Avoid this place it is a real tourist trap.
If you do eat here, only order a few starters and let that be enough. The starters are ok (if you think a ramekin of tabbouleh is sufficient size the you’ll be content here). They tasted quite nice. But only quite nice.
Our mains were of inadequate quality. We ordered ‘mansaf’ which is the national dish. We were given a jawbone of a lamb with almost no meat on it. Mansaf is supposed to able a heavy meal but it was not enough size-wise.
Then we ordered a ‘mixed grill’ because the mansaf was so small. The mixed grill was also small and nothing special about it. The meat was dry and tasteless. The grilled vegetables on the side were flavourless.
In fact, the restaurant undercharged us by not placing the mixed grill on the bill. So we brought this to their attention because it was the right thing to do. They did not appear grateful. The general impression is that tourists are not worthy of good food or any particular regard.
I have read the good reviews, I disagree with a lot of them. I think people are a bit too accepting of mediocre service and relatively high prices. What you must understand is that a lot of locals eat here and receive the best cuts, for lesser prices. Tourists do not receive a genuine service. Just try and speak to the owner / manager and you will see how they regard you.
I would definitely avoid this place if I were you.

Mint tea was served while we were waiting for our dinner. Dinner was Mansaf, lamb prepared in goat’s milk on a bed of rice. It was delicious! We ate it in the traditional way by only using the right hand. Took some time to mould rice with only using your right hand in order to eat it without making a mess. No cutlery was used!
To top this delicious meal off, I was spoilt by the manager and our driver as they arranged to have a gateau made for my birthday. The lights were dimmed and the staff sang happy birthday to me! The cake was delicious! What a wonderful gesture. The restaurant is worth visiting as all the patrons were impressed with the food that they have ordered.
Big thanks to the manager and all the staff for a very special evening!

Despite the bizarre name and peculiar access we had a very decent meal here, selecting a selection of soups and cold mezze which came to princely sum of 22 JD for a family of four. The bread is cooked fresh and is excellent - amongst the best we’ve had in Jordan - and the lentil soup with croutons was genuinely restorative after a day of trudging in the Petra heat. To cap it all we were given a pot of tea and rather good sweet biscuits on the house; a lovely coda.

Read many reviews, but were positively surprised to find at such a touristy place like Petra such a great combination of wonderful service, food and atmosphere. The original design with all the textile, the food that inherits lots of homy local recipes and an attentive, responsive and really warm service that made us feel home. Thanks a lot, will do it again!

we were really lucky with the restaurants in Petra but this was the worst one in our whole trip to Jordan. the food was ok but we got ALL dishes (starters + mains) at the same time and then we knew why - 20 minutes after we came two busses full of tourists came for their dinner, so we were not interesting anymore as we were only 2 guests....
plus it was one of the most expensive dinners we had in over 2 weeks in Jordan... not worth it.

Walked in to the restaurant through a massive indoor shop gallery as venders try to convince us to buy. Bright white lights gave me warehouse vibes. None of this made me want to eat here. The food was below average. Worst of all one of us became very Ill because of the food. I know that Petra is a tourist location but this restaurant made no attempt to look or taste authentic.

Just had a yummy dinner in a nice set up . Food is really good ( we had a soup , hummus , and a grilled chicken with grilled vetables and chips) . Everything is good and tasty. The bread is excellent .. hot and soft and you can enjoy it with some olive oil and special species . My wife was interested in that spice mix ,and one of the staff actually gave her a small bag of it to bring home .

My husband and I went to this restaurant not once but twice in our short time at Petra because the food is amazing and prices are reasonable. We highly recommend the hummus (BEST in Jordan), warm pita bread, and Chicken soup. We visited Petra in the winter so the warm bread/soup was much appreciated :)

We ate in My Mom’s Recipe after a long day of walking around Petra. We were very hungry by the time we got there but luckily it is only a couple of minutes walk from the Petra entrance! An ideal location.
The environment was great with an array of colourful decorations and smiley staff.
The food was also lovely. One of the dishes we had was Mosaka (vegetarian) and was extremely tasty.
Overall, an excellent experience. The staff are lovely and the turnaround was quick so if you want to do this between Petra in the day and Petra at night then it is also a great option!

I swear I had the best dish of my entire trip! And my trip was 18 days! I had the Masuken, which is chicken and onions and spices wrapped in like a dough, like phyllo. It was so flaky and delicious and warm and just made me happy each bite. I also loved dipping our hot bread in olive oil and a mixed spice called Duga. We ate on the terrace upstairs and the whole decor was so charming and inviting. We met the owner on the way out and he was so hospitable and happy we were happy. Will tell anyone who’s coming to Petra, eat here!!!
