Was expecting a hearty Sunday roast with all the trimmings but instead got a rather full plate with very little to shout about. Other dishes were average at best. Why can't these gastro pubs focus on doing a few dishes very well??? Staff were nice but you got the feeling they wanted you to hurry for the next sitting. Wouldn't... More

Some of the best food I've had in a pub anywhere in the world! Deserts could not literally get any better! Staff are very professional and lovely in this unique country village setting.

We visited for the bonfire and fireworks, which was obviously a very busy evening. Despite the number of people, service was quick and courteous, and the atmosphere very welcoming. We were ready to sit down before our reservation, so were prepared to wait, but this presented no difficulties to the efficient staff. The food was delicious, locally sourced, and well... More

One of our walking spots in the summer. Good place to make for after walking the downs. Good atmosphere - reasonable prices, good food, great service, well behaved dogs allowed. Lovely garden when the sun is out

Popped in for Saturday lunch and found a busy but welcoming atmosphere, nice staff and nice food. Only issue I have is that £34 for 3 pints and 3 nice but not amazing, fairly small sandwiches felt a bit steep.

We've been to The Royal Oak many times over the years and went again on a Monday night for a family birthday meal. Well it turned out that Monday is Village Night when they have an additional Village Night menu which is extremely good value. The service is lovely and friendly and the food was delicious, again. We had the... More

Just had the most exceptional Sunday lunch experience. Staff found us a table even though we had no booking. Food was if the highest quality as we always find when visiting. Nothing was too much trouble and the ambiance was just right for a high quality country establishment. Well done and keep the high standard. Can't wait to go again.

Always made to feel welcome here after a long with my dog. Lovely atmosphere. Just had risotto and salad - cooked to perfection, surrounding tables have all complimented the food., which is good to hear. Can't wait to return soon.
