Two of us had a wonderful lunch at the Plough Inn about 20 months ago, determined on a return trip - one of us from Ballarat, the other from Sunbury. So it was rather a disappointment to discover, lunch was no longer available any more,...only Thursday to Saturday evenings, night travel not an option for either of us!! A real pity, as we thoroughly enjoyed our one visit, for both the food and the customer service. Visit was early 2020 but options before August 2020 not available below!1More

COVID is what happened! We now offer lunch at The Plough @ Trentham and dinner at The Plough @ Myrniong. Once all the regulations and restrictions are eased, we may be in a position to offer further services. We do appreciate your past loyalty and...More

We have been coming to this pub since it was the old original establishment. Then regular diners in it’s current form. The plough has been our special place for all things celebratory, from birthdays to mothers/fathers days and everything in between. So imagine how sad...I am to actually write this. On Saturday night we decided to head to the plough to celebrate a couple of milestones. Greeted at the door with one friendly check in staff to guide us through the Covid process, no problems. Was seated and this is where it went downhill. Rude condescending wait staff that treated us like we were in primary school. Looked down his nose at us and made us all feel extremely uncomfortable. Definitely not busy at the restaurant as Covid restrictions are still in place , very very slow service. Somewhere during the service our wait staff was replaced by a terribly unhappy person, I would have preferred the snooty one we had!! She constantly turned her back when I was trying to ask questions about the wine. The steak was fatty and the pepper sauce was bland and basically brown water, what a ripoff, the bok Choy was nice so that’s what I give one star for. I will make sure that I tell at least ten people of the terrible service that you gave us. There was six of us and they will do the same. You ruined our night and we can still not believe the way we were treated. Do not go here if you have any joy or if you wish to celebrate. Bunch of Debbie Downers.More

A group of about 40 car club friends enjoyed an excellent lunch at The Plough last weekend. Service was great and our hosts most welcoming. They had the fires going too, as winter had suddenly arrived. We had a generous tasting plate to share -...all the usual stuff - and a good choice of five mains followed. I thought my 36-hour slow-cooked blade steak was excellent. Less than an hour's drive from Melbourne. We hope to return soon. Yes, it's 'hidden gem'.More

A family get-together after lock down, we were welcomed and well looked after by the attentive team at the Plough. The menu had something for most, apart from vegetarians and the fish and chips, steak and calamari were well received. Excellent desserts and a good...choice of wines and beers topped off a great evening.More

Just read through the extensive online menu, make your choice, nominate a pick up time and pay,it’s so easy. If you live close they will deliver, I chose to pick up due to distance, you receive an email when it’s ok to go in and...get your meal. You go in with your 1 litre container and it gets filled with your choice of quality beer, then you pick up your meal packaged in environmentally friendly packaging and when you get home, enjoy delicious well crafted food that you will be happy to have chosen. It really is a well thought out process that makes you feel good in these difficult times.More

Was locals night, packed, and we were seated in the back room. Guess someone has to draw the short straw. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. My guests chose the fresh oysters for entrée and checked with the staff that they were not large New...Zealand type oysters. having been satisfied with the answer they proceeded to order them. Imagine their surprise when the dish arrived and it was anything but fresh oysters. They declined to eat them and we were grateful that staff removed from from our bill. none the less, very disappointing. The remainder of the meal was satisfactory.More

Dissatisfied with the food, years ago it used to be better. Not coming back. Overpriced. And the service is not that great anymore

Left hungry and spent too much. Food was cold and not flash. Deserts were good. Staff friendly but obviously inexperienced.

Perfect spot for a special dinner. Prompt friendly service by a knowledgeable waitress. A welcome surprise was the complimentary starter - a chilled asparagus soup which was wonderful, however we were disappointed in the “fresh” bread rolls as they were almost impossible to break open,...dry & shed crumbs everywhere! Mains were wonderful. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his hanger steak which was cooked to perfection. My seafood tagliatelle was probably the best I’ve ever had - masses of prawns, scallops, calamari & fish cooked in a garlic, chilli & lemon oil. As it was a special occasion we decided to indulge in desserts - a Bombe Alaska for my partner and beautifully smooth chocolate mousse topped with fresh mandarin & mandarin Persian fairy floss for me. Absolutely superb, but a word of warning - Bombe Alaska is way too big for one person - share with your dining companion! Good coffee rounded off a pretty damn good experience !More

The Plough Bistro is open from Thursday through to Sunday as I understand, but if you leave a voicemail message, I am sure they will get back to you. I have not booked accommodation however. Hope this helps.
