Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

THE place to go in Huehue for cakes, shakes and baked goods. Huehue does not have much to offer the European taste, especially if you want to stay clear of all the comedores. They have the usual Sarita ice cream chain store, but seating isn’t...all that comfortable for a longer time, so when you want iced coffee, delicious smoothies and shakes and read your newspaper peacefully while looking at the parquet outside, come to Monte Alto. They have a huge selection of very delicious cakes ( I have yet to find one that good in Antigua…), offer lunch like pizza, a bit of pasta, paninis, sandwhiches; soups and also have a large selection of baked goods like muffins, their famous Elmo cupcakes ( delicious, cute and kids really love them !!) , croissants and vol au vents with ham and cheese, and things like that.More

Many places said that it was a good bakery but is completely false when I arrived there there where no options to purchase as a whole cake or portions also the employees are lacking customer skills would not recommend it

I was wandering around Huehuetenango looking for good coffee, then stumbled upon this place. They had a proper espresso machine and made me exactly what I wanted. They also have a nice selection of cakes and smoothies.

I have only been to their location in Plaza Polanco in Quetzaltenango, and only to buy cakes for birthdays and other special occasions. The other bakeries we've tried offer cakes that are damp instead of moist and so sweet they nearly curl your hair. It...might seem odd that their headquarters are in Huehuetenango, but their baking skills rival anything you might encounter in Vienna. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating, though I've always given them at least a day's notice for a whole cake. Our favorite is the almond torte. A whole cake that serves 16 costs Q150+/-More

Its right next to the Parque so you can do some people watching while having delicious cakes, great coffee, excellent milkshakes and smoothies. Really cute and delicious Elmo Cupcakes....Breakfast is good too. A definate must when you are in town and you want to relax a while from the hustle and bustle of the busy market streets.More

If you love cakes, deserts and baked goods, this is the place to go in Huehue. The have recently renovated the interior of the café and its even more enjoyable now. Cakes are excellent, so are the Frappés and Shakes. The baked goods like muffins,...cupcakes or the special easter bread are delicious and most importantly you can keep them for several days and they still taste fresh ( I always go to Nebaj for several days when leaving Huehue and there are simply no restaurants there at all other than comedores which I won’t recommend for the European stomach , so I always stock up on baked goods and eat those for the 3-4 days I’m up there…)More

… back in Huehue and back to the Monte Alto every day for cake and Iced Coffees. They have new cakes all the time and wether it’s the Tiramisu, any kind of cake, the muffins, delicious Elmo cupcakes, the croissants with ham and cheese or...anything else, it’s very tasty and of great quality ( I’ve been to the Ixil for three nights and luckily I stocked up on a lot of pastry and baked goods knowing that there is nothing to buy for the European stomach in any of the villages… Even after three days their products were still fresh and tasty and not dry at all, so that goes to the quality of their baked goods ).More

We had lunch at Montel Alto in Chiantla, Huehuetenango, and our family loved the chorizos and longanizas, the Pollo en jocón, the tortillas, and the amazing variety of desserts! We ended up returning two more times, savoring the chicken empanadas, beef volovanes, relámpagos, fruit tarts,...Nutella pastries, lemon pie and a host of other fantastic treats!More

If you like cakes, great milkshakes, frappuchinos and coffee, this is the place. Right on the side of the central plaza in the middle of Huehue, I ended up going there almost every day during my one weeks stay in Huehue. After a day of...touring the villages in the Cuchumatanes, what better way to relax than with a delicious cold coffee milkshake and a piece of their delicious cake – they have about 20 different cakes to choose from plus sweet and salty baked goodies like cupcakes, muffins, ham & cheese croissants, empanadas, etc.More
