El Rancho is clearly meant to handle large groups of people inside, but we sat at a table literally on the street, next to the curb. As always, we ordered local wine, meaning Torrontés and Malbec, from a more than adequate list. My wife and I decided to share a dish of grilled rabbit, which proved to be the best... More

We had two separate dishes and my first choice was not available Without Cerdo aka pork, swine. Reasonable order taking but thereafter felt like we were ignored. After some 4 decade of wine tasting I feel I have a some valid expectations of what a Mabec should present. Questioning the waiters comments re our bottle was a No No. The plus... More

Don't expect much from a European perspective. Quality of meat was medium, preparation also somewhat "without love". On a positive note, the waitress was really nice.

I've lived in Salta for 8 years and this is the place we take people when we want them to try really good traditional food. Their meat is good. It will be served a punto as meat is traditionally cooked in Argentina. I love the empanadas. Really fantastic. And pretty much everything on their menu is what you can expect... More

Good local cuisine, tasty empanadas (cheese+++), very good bife de chorizo. The only disappointment is the slow and lazy service...and no functional wifi

Food is authentic in a family budget style restaurant. Remember to take pesos to pay as they don't have credit card facilities.

Nice dinner on a cool evening in late June seated at a table pulled up close to the toasty central firepit. Yummy locro and empanadas. Pleasant, attentive, accommodating service (they let us in early, though they were still closed, to warm up around the fire).

I really like this place. They have good service, a short but diverse food options, nice tables outside and a not bad look inside. Wonderful? Not really. But it will work and dishes are well prepared.

We had lunch today. The waiter was very polite but we waited an eternity for a simple salad, 4 empanadas and a tamale. We reached before the lunchtime rush and yet it was long. I suspect the kitchen was slow that day. There were several waiters/ waitresses and all were working very hard and seemed pleasant. For a packed lunch... More

Typical fare as served by most restaurants surrounding the square. The suprema salad was a lovely mix of beets, carrot, potato and other fresh vegetables - and a generous serving for two people. Ideal for people watching as it is at the corner. Also good for watching the antics of the local dogs!
