Many thanks to the staff, especially Julie, at The Talbot Cuckfield for making our Sunday lunch gathering for twenty nine people so successful! We dined in the Hayloft which was perfect as we had a number of small children to keep entertained whilst we ate our Sunday roast. We pre ordered which certainly helped to make everything run smoothly, the... More

Appallingly slow service. Staff were uncomfortably friendly. Thyme and duck is a horrendous combination; don't order it. Fish was dry. Got a sticky toffee on the house due to poor service - it was abismal.

I had the shallot tarte tatin to start with feta cheese on top. I know that the shallots would have needed to be caramelised; however it tasted like the chef spilled the whole pot of sugar into the dish, it was far too sweet to eat. There was barely any feta on top. For mains I had the vegetarian mushroom... More

Dear TheBeaandTheHare, Thank you for your recent review and of course was disappointed to read your comments. The two dishes mentioned are very popular and this is the first negative feed back received on both dishes. A Tarte Tatin is a caramelised dish so there will be a element of sweetness to it. I will certainly discuss the food with... More

Having booked a table in the restaurant we started with a drink in the sunny outside courtyard while we choose our food. Its a relatively small menu and one course we very much enjoyed was the pressed belly of pork with crackling and a large range of "Sunday" trimmings including Yorkshire pudding. Good service to.

The service was excellent and the portions generous. The chunky chips accompanying the beer battered fish, in particular were very good but there were too many to be able to do them justice. There wasn't enough custard with the crumble but I was given extra when I asked for some more. We enjoyed our lunch and will go back.

We arranged to have a private bar with a finger food buffet served for just over 100 friends and family as guests. From the very beginning the management was very thorough, caring and helpful with the arrangements. The hot food option was, according to our guests, lovely with great flavours and plenty of it. The two dedicated bar staff were... More

Ordered a Brie and cranberry toastie, out came two slices of cold cheap toast with some Brie slapped in between not even melted! First time in this pub would not return

Dear Steph1963, I was of course saddened to read through you review and rating your experince as Terrible. I will of course pass on your comments to the kitchen team, although i can assure you that our bread arrives daily from a local baker in Ardingly and we would not consider this as a cheap product. Best regards More

My daughter's a chef so l knew the food would be good - it was excellent and so was the restaurant . The food was fresh, so tasty, and cooked to perfection. We had to pre-order as it was Mother's Day - it was extremely busy but there were ample friendly staff - nothing too much trouble even take time... More

I visit the Talbot fairly regularly, but not often on busy days like Mothers Day. We were one of the last tables booked, but the food was spot on. The beef was rare, the veggies were crunchy, and the staff were brilliant. Well done.
