I can but concur with the previous remarks. Reasonable coffee, nothing special, but a pathologically grumpy owner. Shame because it could be a nice place.

Was touring about and fancied a coffee, Stopped here and was pleasantly surprised to see it open in December. Although very quiet, the staff were pleasant and the coffee was good.Lovely view over the loch. Nice idea with the books and hats.

Whenever we come to the area we often entertain ourselves with a visit to this coffee shop to experience the fantastically rude owner. However, we darkened their doors on Saturday and were shocked to receive really good service from the 2 girls working there. The coffee was also really well made. No one was rude to us either. It's also... More

So, at least it was open...The bookshop is quirky, interesting. The burnt cheese scones, however, were the worst I have ever been served...and in spite of it's name, the coffee wasn't great. I took the blackened, doughy, scones (which we had cut open and tasted the centres..yuk...I suspect they had been microwave heated....pastry? Really?), back to the counter, and very... More

It was in September that myself, my son Tim and his best friend Adam decided to tour Scotland for 6 days from Sunderland on the chilly North East Coast of England via Braemar, John O'Groats, over to Durness and down the West Coast not missing any of the fantastic Scottish mountains and coastal views. We had left Ullapool Youth Hostel... More

Sadly this is not a place to go back to despite looking so enticing. It was only 1pm ish and they ran out of soup? Only other alternative was a savoury scone which we didn't fancy. There is cosy seating with bookshelves, full of interesting books but my husband was told -in no uncertain terms to " put the book... More

The cafe itself is very nice. The coffee and soup were both excellent. As for the staff, skip this place if you want to be greeted by a smile. We were the only customers in on a cold November day and were very grateful to have found a cosy place for lunch. The cafe does soup, scones, cakes and all... More

We visited the mountain coffee company on a beautiful sunny autumn afternoon during October half term. As it was 3pm I thought I best enquire whether they were still serving. I barely got my sentence out when I was barked 'yes' by a lady who was clearing tables. I asked her if it was going to trouble her if we... More

Nice central Location, looks inviting but isn't. Overcrowded with tables and seating, unfriendly (verging on rude) staff who would rather chat loudly between themselves than attend to customers. Expensive warm tea and coffee and mediocre scones and soups. Save your money and give it a miss.

We were excited when we saw the cafe and then very disappointed. The floor was dirty, crumbs everywhere. Tables uncleared. Disinterested staff. Thick and heavy scones and cake. Very average coffee. Outside - unsteady plastic furniture. Not cheap. the only saving grace was the fabulous bookshop attached.

Description
This cafe is recommended by Lonely Planet and could be fantastic. The view is good, The food looked good and some tasted good. I ma prompted ot review becase the service was very bad. The women in charge who I believe is the owner was one fo the grumpier people we met on a 5month tour of Europe. She was loudly critical of and to the young man working there, she was unwelcoming and ignored much of what we said to her. The coffee was ok but made with reluctance and an offhand attitude. We felt as if we were intruding in her space and a real nuisance -- at 11 am !!. We had driven out of the way to get to a place which we felt would be special place for a coffee. It was but in all the wrong ways. We are New Zealanders who do not normally complain but this place was worth complaining about.
