We had wonderful seating on the patio. The patio is very relaxing and in front of two historic cottage. Service is very attentive if a little slow. Don’t go there prior to a concert or other event. It is a destination restaurantZ. You will want...to savor the food and the atmosphere dining outside. This restaurant serves contemporary American cuisine. We four shared two excellent bursts cheese with bread appetizers. For dinner, we each had something differentZ. We collectively ordered the airline chicken breast, Beeler Volcano Pork Shoulder (most popular dish), duck breast and pan seared grouper as entrees. Each one of these entrees was considered excellent by each of us. The entrees each had great and balanced side dishes. Desserts were excellent as well. It’s not for nothing that my Moon tour book rated this restaurant one of Tempe’s best in that very competitive market.More

It's a shame that a place with very good food has such greedy owners. They had all of their tables full on a Monday night, but only had enough staff to cover half of them. We waited 35 minutes before we flagged someone down to...take our orders, it then took 45 minutes for some of our appetizers. One hour and 45 minutes after we sat down and we threatened to just walk out, our main meals arrived along with the rest of our appetizers. The servers were very frazzled and the management never showed up to apologize.More

My wife and I met another couple for dinner at Tricks. The outdoor setting was a pleasant change from the very busy neighborhood. The dinner was delicious, although a bit pricey. It is a great place for a slow paced dinner. We plan on returning.

We have eaten at the Hose offices restaurant for the last time. Two ordered the grouper dinner and two ordered the duck medium. The duck was served well done in a salty chicken soup-like stock. It tasted tough and very salty. They credited us for...both duck meals but made up for it with the wine. A very average pinot noir recommended by the writer was $60 a bottle. He failed to mention the price. It is available for$19.99 at wine stores. The outdoor ambience is nice, but not wirth the price.More

We have been to House of Tricks several times in the past. But this recent experience will be OUR LAST time we ever go there. We were celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary with another couple, who were celebrating their 27th anniversary. It was a special...nice occasion. We had a reservation to sit outside. The hostess began the evening on the wrong note - she was extremely rude and said that there was no way we could get a table outside. She refused to tell us how long we would have to wait. Meanwhile there were several empty tables that remained empty the entire time we were there! After an hour of waiting, we finally did get a table outside. Our waiter, however, was extremely indifferent and inattentive. We had to ask several times just to get water refills. Our dinner took almost 3 hours. The restaurant was not busy or crowded, so it wasn't a case where the waiter was overloaded. He just DIDN"T CARE about his service or anything. Very very disappointed. NEVER WILL WE RETURN.More

Realizing we were going to be in Tempe over Valentine’s weekend, looked up some suggestions of where to have a nice dining experience (reserved for the Monday after). This spot lived up to the great Yelp reviews - delicious food, good cocktails, great service, lovely...ambiance. So glad we found it! I had the seared ahi entree (I’m still thinking about how amazing it was!) and he had the duck breast. He said it was like eating beef tenderloin it was so tender and good. We shared the poke stuffed green chili starter - it was good but for some reason we were both surprised it was cold. He got a Manhattan That he said was really good. I tried the dalton + booth cocktail. For desert we each had a glass of wine and shared the pot de creme - amazing!More
