The restaurant is in a very small dimly-lit building on Heritage square, and when I say small, I mean small... there is a table before you even reach the reception podium. But TripAdvisor and other sites hyped this place up for me, so I had...More

Their summer lunch menu was not I expected, it was extremely limited. Food was OK and priced right. If your not into sushi or sashimi, their summer menu is OK. My wife and I were going to try their dinner menu but opted to go...More

Not a Nobuo experience. After reading all the positive reviews and having been to Nobuo in Vail we had high expectations for this experience and we’re terribly dissapointed. We ordered the tasting menu which included sashimi. We could hardly experience the flavor of the fish...More

We arrived in downtown Phoenix on a Sunday afternoon in 100+ heat. No one was out and about in Heritage Square as we searched for this restaurant. We found it and it was empty at 1:30pm. But thankfully, our quest was worth it because this...More

We needed a place to eat before our concert downtown and this one happened to be available. Pricey? Yes, but each bite was beautiful and displayed with such care. Our party of 4 picked 4 sashimi tapas and 4 warm ones. Stand outs for me...More

Nobou Fukada certainly is a talented chef worthy of his James Beard Award. We were treated to an evening of fresh, clean, and unique flavors that deeply rooted on Japanese tradition with a twist. That twist was contemporary and based on availability of the best...More

Our dining experience at Nobuo at Teeter House in downtown Phoenix was consistently interesting and often excellent. Tables were set in simply (verging on minimally) decorated small rooms in an older house. The wait-staff was informative, patient and well informed, suggesting options that effectively complimented...More

It is hard to describe the experience we had tonight. It was a wonderful, peaceful, stress free eating experience that we enjoyed very much. The whole experience was something I will not forget anytime soon. We have eaten here before, but this is our first...More

You receive a warm welcome upon arrival. The staff go out of their way to explain the menu and to assist in selecting dishes. The fish sashimi was outstanding and that was our favourite dish that night. The Grapefruit & Hamachi was wonderful combination of...More

We just finished 4 weeks on the road and a stream of seeminly endless dinners out. I can say without hesitation that our meal at Nobuo was the best - food, atmosphere and service. While Nobuo was one of the priciest places we ate, it...More

Description
Refined Asian-style teahouse by day, funky izakaya by night: Nobuo at Teeter House reflects the fascinating duality of Nobuo Fukuda. The setting — a turn-of-the-century, wood-floored bungalow, awash in earth tones — emulates the relaxed intimacy of Japan’s izakaya, where friends and business associates gather to eat Japanese-style tapas, drink beer and have fun. Nobuo elevates the custom while staying true to its low brow roots, offering rustic Japanese classics with modern American inflections. During the day, a short lunch menu is offered, as are exotic, aromatic teas, meant to be sipped and savored over quiet conversation. In the evening, Nobuo creates"5-Star" cuisine, bringing a Western sensibility to Japanese sushi traditions while combining seasonal ingredients in exciting, inventive ways. If we can assist you in any way, we welcome your phone calls!
