We (a party of three) shared two types of risotto -- black (squid) seafood risotto and one with saffron rice. Both were plentiful and very well executed. My dining companions also had a meat dish and were happy. Service was great -- friendly but not obtrusive. We had good wine (cannot recall the name). For dessert, I recommend limonata --... More

Piegari has the advantage of location - close to a few popular luxury hotels, and it does have a decent reputation gained over the first years of existence.... having said this, today is it not more than an expensive restaurant that caters to corporate travelers and the unaware tourist. The food is acceptable but for the prices charged, it should... More

This used to be my favorite Italian restaurant in BA and top 3 in the world but as the Spanish say "crea fama y acuetate a dormir" which translates to create fame and go to sleep. Yesterday I had the absolute worse dinning experience I have had in years. Not one plate was remotely close to what they used to... More

There are two of these restaurants across the street from each other. My wife and I had dinner in the one they call the "seafood" part. We went into the "steak one" first and they let us know that our reservation was across the street and even walked us over there. We had a wonderful time and the food was... More

The price for 2 people is more in the range of $50USD and more if wine is added. The food is great and the portions are ample. The waitstaff is very attentive and friendly. They patiently helped as we tried to use our limited spanish language skills. Piegari provides a nice night out.

For our last night in Buenos Aires we wanted to go somewhere special and this place was recommended to us by the hotel we stayed in. The location initially isn't too appealing as its under a flyover but in this case its best not to judge the book by its cover. It seems to be one of the fanciest and... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
